Injuries - October 2006

My brother, Daniel, recently got into a car crash where a drunk driver ran a red light and hit him. He was in critical condition until last week and now he's still in the hospital but in better condition, but still real bad. I am wondering, because he loves sports so much is it possible he still is able to play his favorites when he gets out - bball, swimming, water polo, ect. And also, we were planning to apply for colleges together this year, he's a senior and I'm a junior both in high school, do you think that's still possible?

I was walking on the lawn and the air hit a branch to my eye! I can see well and there doesn't appear to be any redness but my eye is irritating :(

yesterday my bf was bite by a spider and we caught it and hes pretty sure it was a brown locus spider ( we can send a picture ). HE thinks theyre poisonious but IDK if it is he says his arm has been going numb does NE one know what we can do w/out gettin medical help he has no insurance!! PLEASE SUM1 HELP!! THANK YOU!!

Hi as i was riding to skool like many other days, i jumped a jerb and my wheel came off and therefore landed straight on my face lots of blood. Ambulence came and i was all stitched up and ready to go. THe next day i realise that my lip where i landed has become twice as huge and my tooth is wriggling just a bit. Do you think my lips will go back in place to normal or stay like this. very huge?? When i feel my lips with my tongue i can feel the stamp that my tooth has left and its prety big. WIll i ever be normal??

ive had two operations on my wrist and needing a total of 4 months off work sick with full pay. ive been back to work for two months now and im back to doing full duties. my employer now wants me to have a medical report done. can they just sack me or even make me have this report done, i have been with them for 8 years and it s local authority i work for. im worried sick,please help im a single parent too, thx

The hospital used dermabond on my 3 1/2 year olds chin when she fell and cut it open on Friday night. At daycare on Monday, I gave strict instructions that they make sure it not get wet or wiped off. Well, the message did not make it to everyone and one of the teachers scrubbed it off my babys chin and now I am worried about infection and whether it was stuck enough to allow it to heal properly now. It did not appear to have opened any (and yes, I have already had a heart to heart chat with the daycare director.) Since it was about 2 1/2 days since it was applied, do you think it'll be okay? Since its been scrubbed off, do you think I can apply neosporin and a bandaid now to help prevent infection? Help, I'm a very worried Mom.

these tubes are very troublesome i'd like to take them out but dont know why they are there. I have to wait another week for them to be removed,this is torture.Plus I think that their stiched in there.

I feel at a loss, wondered if anyone else has experienced this.
I dropped something on my big toe.
It ended up having a split down the middle of it. Then it fell off completely.
When it grew back it became an ingrown toe nail.

Podiatrist said it was a fungus (from a culture he did). He removed ingrown part.

I had a dermatologist look at it, he said it look like it was injured, not a fungus at all.

Shortly after it has fallen off again, and I can see a spit on the skin, where it was when I had a nail there.

I am upset wondering if my podiatrist knows what the hel* he is doing! He said a fungus- and clearly its screwed up through injury.
Will it heal, or keep coming back weird, ingrown, fall off ect.

Had pain in my wrist for the past 8 weeks, thought it might solve itself since things usually do but it hasn't. I have no swelling or bruising but its painful to turn my wrist around, hold heavy items when my hand is out flat and bend my hand back towards my arm even slightly. It hurts on the side opposite to my thumb just under the bone that sticks out. I can also feel pain up that side of my arm sometimes (think it's the side of the ulna) Any ideas what's going on? I play a lot of hockey and I've got some big tournaments coming so any suggestions would be gratefully received! Thanks!

I was going to get off my bed and i jumped and hit the bottom of the bed and i slipped and hit my tv stand thats next to my bed and i fell sideways and my middle ribs broke my fall...according to my mom that good that i hit up higher. It doesnt hurt that bad when i breath in or out, my lungs sound good. it only really hurt when i move the wrong way or sneeze, cough or laugh. but i dont know if i cracked anything or fracture it, i know i didnt brake it. I have like a 3in by 2in bruise on my ribs and i have either a bone or a knott stickin out on the side...not sure what it is....dont know if i want to go to urgent care because they cant really do anything beside rap it up in bandages......any body know what i did ? what i hurt ?

I was hurt in a softball tourney in july. My insurance had not gone into affect at the time, but i had to have an mri. I had 3 torn ligments and a bilateral tear of meniscus. Because my ins. didn't take affect, i had to be referred to a goverment hospital so i wouldn't have to pay for the surgery up front. But my appt to even see the orthapedic is jan 18. My knee is really bothering me now. Is there any kind of insurance that i can take out considering this is a preexisting condition? is there anyway i could see another doctor now since my insurance has taken affect? Please help.. i need to have this fixed as soon as possible..

Of course, me being retarded yesterday, chasing after my sister, hurt myself and now I got a question... She had tried to shut the bedroom door, sorta as a diversion so that she could get away, but, in the process, my arm ran into the door, HARD... Now, it isn't bruised, but is just a little bit swollen... it is about three inches from my elbow, on the ulna... is it even possible to have broken it, and it just hurt like a bruise? Or is it indeed, just a bruise??? I will be getting xrays tomorrow, but I want to know what to expect... thanks...

I got injured my left shoulder blade (scapula) a year ago. I still have the pain in my left top body. took MRI and Xray and did not find fracture or muscle strains. All symptoms made the doctor think that it's a nerve pain.

I tried physical therapy, massage therapy. They all increased the pain.

The doctor asked me to go through acupuncture. I took it last week and it's also increasing the pain. Do you think I should continue with the acupuncture to complete the remaining 5 more acupuncture sessions? will it help eventually?

I had problems last week with a swollen gland. The doc said to suck on something very sour to promote saliva flow, as he thought there may be a stone. Today the same gland (between my chin and ear, right under the jaw bone), hurts so bad it's insane. On the 'pain scale' I would give it an 8. The gland itself is about the size of an olive. Is this a normal size? Do stones have a tendency of returning like this? Any other ideas what it could be? I have tried the sour candies again, but to no avail. I do not have a fever or feel sick, so I doubt it's an infection. I don't have an abscess, just an EXTREMELY sore gland. Feels like I was shot in the neck, kind of a sharp pain confined to that one little area. Is there anything an ER could do for me besides pain meds? Can they do a biopsy or take the gland right out? How do they diagnose and treat salivary gland stones? Sorry this is so long, it's getting concerning though.

I'm pretty sure I dont have DeQuervain's syndrome, but it was recommended to me that I might have it .I went to a website about it and there was a test to see if you do. The test HURT, i think more because my thumb has never moved like that. Could I have done anything serious? Or did I just aggrivate it?

It hurts on the inside part of my wrist below my thumb. it tingles and sometimes is numb. if i turn my writst down, it hurts the most.
