I'm pretty sure I dont have DeQuervain's syndrome, but it was recommended to me that I might have it .I went to a website about it and there was a test to see if you do. The test HURT, i think more because my thumb has never moved like that. Could I have done anything serious? Or did I just aggrivate it?

Causes of De Quervain's syndrome

It may be caused by the repetitive motion of the thumb constantly being required to move up and down (usually associated with using a computer keyboard or typewriter). It can be included in a loose group of conditions called repetitive strain injuries.

Symptoms

Symptoms are pain and swelling over the thumb side of the wrist, possibly numbness on the back of the thumb, and difficulty gripping.

Testing for De Quervains syndrome
Finkelstein's test is used to diagnose DeQuervain's syndrome in people who have wrist pain. To perform the test, the thumb is placed in the closed fist and the hand is tilted towards the little finger, as shown in the image. If pain occurs at the wrist below the thumb, DeQuervain's syndrome is likely.

I cant say what your pain is, but it could be you have this or the test aggrivated your wrist/thumb.

Good luck

That test (where you make a fist with your thumb inside and bend your wrist towards the pinky finger) can cause mild pain in many people. The test is positive (meaning you have DeQuervain's) if it is very painful and reproduces your normal symptoms. If you have any doubts, see an orthopedic hand surgeon for an accurate diagnosis.
