General Health Care - March 2007

My left knee is sprained and has been for 3 days how long does it normally take to heal?? and it doesnt normally hurt unless I sit down for a while then when I get back up It's a HUGE stabbing pain and i'll walk it off then it's gone. I have TKD testing on Thursday and I really need it to be better.
Is that a sprained knee and what can I do to make it feel better/
heal faster???

I had tests done a few weeks ago and found nothing abnormal. (blood, urine and ct scan without contrast) The pain is in my right rib area but travels into my upper back/shoulder area and tends to be worse at night. I was on vicodin but it kept making me sick so I try to avoid it but tylenol or prescription muscle relaxants don't help. I feel like I am being a bother at the doctors office but don't want this to become something serious.
I have had a bad kidney infection in the past that was horrific and initially went to urgent care suspecting that it was the same problem. They said it is not and were convinced it would go away. Should I just keep waiting and it will go away?

My nail took almost six months to fall off, and now, underneath, it looks bumpy. It seems like there are some hard, raised parts that look like a nail, but it certainly does not look like I expected. I thought it would grow back evenly and look just like a really short nail. What is normal? Should I be worried that it may never grow back properly? Please help...I am now stressed over this!

i have restless leg syndrom,i get it at least,5 times a week,i can tell if it will bother me at night by the way my legs feel during the day,its horrable,toss and turn,move, walk around, etc. i have taken REQUIP, for 1 mo. worked very well, but i no longer can afford them, no ins. lost job, anyone have any suggestions???????????????

I fell at my school the other day. I was crying but there was nothing on my knee it just hirt and I couldn't move it. But now it is swollen, super sore, and I can't move it. I can't walk on it. I have no problem falling asleep, but I end up waking up an hour or two after and it happens 4 or 5 times most nights. I can't remember the last time I fell asleep...slept soundly...and woke up feeling refreshed.

What are the repercussions of taking vicodin long-term? I am currently taking 10/500 and my doctor said he's going to scale down my next dose so that it has less tylenol in it. Will it still work as well if it has less tylenol? Isn't it mostly the narcotic element that is giving me the pain relief? And again, what problems will arise from taking vicodin long-term? Thanks!

i have a pretty good sized cut on my little finger, i went to get stutches yesterday. the cut come from a heavy kinda blunt object falling on my finger. the question is that i have numbness in my arm... what could this be, i dont want to wait for 4 hours in a hospital to find out it is nothing can anyone help me out?

I've had this so to speak "bubble" in my ear for about 3 days. I have tried a few things. If you have ANY idea how to get rid of it please share! It makes it very hard for me to hear things sometimes with "bubble" in my ear. I haven't been on a plane or swimming so I don't know how I could have gotten it. PLEASE HELP!

hey guys, i woke up yesterday morning, and my left thigh was swollen, and there's this HUGE (although light) bruise that covers about.. i'd say 1/3 of my thigh.
it's stiff, it hurts, and it's somewhat a numbing feeling, and it's really painful when i climb the stairs or go down the stairs.

i have no idea what this could be, any ideas?

Okay so i bought this cheap pencil eyeliner as a quicky becuase i just really need one .So in the morning i realize that it is the worst cheap pencil EVER. But i try to press harder on my eye (stupid stupid i know ) and now it really hurts =(

OK, this sounds made up, I know, but it's TRUE. My doctor is out of town so I made an appointment with another doctor in his office to check out something (above the waist, and nothing gross, thank you). In walks this cute, tall, russian doctor lady. I'm a little flustered because my regular doc looks like Doc Cottle from "Battlestar Galactica" (which is to say, old white guy). Anywho, she checks me out, I'm OK, and my brain shuts down and I leave. So my questions: (1) she's not my doctor per se, even though she saw me...are there ethical rules on her going out with me if I can pull off....(2) how do I go back and do a do-over with a friggin' doctor? I can't make another appointment (that's just creepy)...send flowers with a thank you note (desparate?)? Any other ideas or things that have worked with you ladies? I'd love a female doctors opinion, especially (although you probably have a full time job and are not trolling Yahoo Answers!)!

Got 3 stitches topside of first finger between hand and first knuckle. I am going away to remote parts and would love a nurses opinion on how best to remove them myself. i know about keeping equipment sterile so mainly looking for technique hints .

I have had a headache every day for the past week and a half. I have gone to my dr before for this and he says sinus's or depression. I am depressed because I have a headache all the time, it is hard to drive, think, and function! It is in the front of my head right above my eyes...I feel tired from it and don't feel like eatting..can anyone suggest anything? I have to take more than four tylenol just to help, not stop, a migraine. I cant stand that. I wish there was somthing I could just take to relieve the pain. Ive been on two different migraine preventatives and neither help. One was immetrex and i cant remeber the other. The only thing that honestly helps is the pain killers my mother occasionally gives me, pot or going to sleep. ANY HELP PLEASE.
