OK, this sounds made up, I know, but it's TRUE. My doctor is out of town so I made an appointment with another doctor in his office to check out something (above the waist, and nothing gross, thank you). In walks this cute, tall, russian doctor lady. I'm a little flustered because my regular doc looks like Doc Cottle from "Battlestar Galactica" (which is to say, old white guy). Anywho, she checks me out, I'm OK, and my brain shuts down and I leave. So my questions: (1) she's not my doctor per se, even though she saw me...are there ethical rules on her going out with me if I can pull off....(2) how do I go back and do a do-over with a friggin' doctor? I can't make another appointment (that's just creepy)...send flowers with a thank you note (desparate?)? Any other ideas or things that have worked with you ladies? I'd love a female doctors opinion, especially (although you probably have a full time job and are not trolling Yahoo Answers!)!

As a general rule most doctors would likely avoid a romantic relationship with a patient even if they had only seen that person once. With that said if the doctor is not actively treating you, particularly if it is not a mental health issue, there is nothing immoral or unethical about the doctor accepting a date. Never the less, most of us would likely be a little squeamish about doing so as such interaction could be misinterpreted as the doctor taking advantage of the situation.

Your best bet would be to figure out a way to meet her outside the office (without seeming like you are stalking her). Then a lot of the doctor-patient issues would disappear.

As you noted, that was episodic care, not a full-blown professional relationship, so there's no major problem unless you do make another appointment. Whether she'll be interested is another question altogether. Best to charge straight ahead, call the office, tell the receptionist exactly that you've finished the professional relationship and are interested in a personal one, and hope the doctor will take your call. Even if she is interested, though, she may want a little distance before she accepts.

I think that if you really want to go out with her it should be okay. I would suggest going back there and talking to her and maybe ask her to dinner. (if you have trouble because you are shy it should be ok) you are just two differant people with two differant jobs. Is it inapropriate for a guy to ask a cute girl who is a clerk where he is shopping out? i would hope not

if they aren't your full time doc then there is nothing unethical. Good luck. A note might be the best way.

I know this female doc who'd love to meet you. She's 63 years old (but looks more like 90), weight 250, shaves her head, has a loud boisterous voice, smokes and drinks heavily, everyone call her Butch, and she LOVES younger men. Still interested?
