I had tests done a few weeks ago and found nothing abnormal. (blood, urine and ct scan without contrast) The pain is in my right rib area but travels into my upper back/shoulder area and tends to be worse at night. I was on vicodin but it kept making me sick so I try to avoid it but tylenol or prescription muscle relaxants don't help. I feel like I am being a bother at the doctors office but don't want this to become something serious.
I have had a bad kidney infection in the past that was horrific and initially went to urgent care suspecting that it was the same problem. They said it is not and were convinced it would go away. Should I just keep waiting and it will go away?

It could be gallbladder. Gallbladder tends to radiate to the right shoulder. Galbladder disease does not always show up on blood work or CT scan. I know because I had it. The way they did find it was by a HIDA scan and it showed decreased output. I also has very bad heartburn. Your gall bladder is located in your upper right abdomen about where you described. Ask your Dr about gallbladder. Hope this helps.

Difficult to say what is going on, but sounds like the nasty things have been excluded.
Perhaps you have a musculo-skeletal complaint (eg pulled muscle). Paracetamol + anti-inflammatory (eg Voltaren, Neurofen) should help here. I don't know what Vicodin is, but sound like you should avoid it.
I am assuming your doctor has investigated you for gall bladder problems (should be able to see this on CT scan) and ruled this out. If not, you should be investigated for this.
Your pain should probably go away with time, but if it doesn't, then you may need to revisit your doctor.

When I experienced pain very similiar to yours - it took doctors months to decide it was my gallbladder and then a few more months before they removed it. I suggest you keep a very detailed diary of everything you do, eat and drink. Also the time of day and/or night the pain gets worse. This will help them pin point the problem faster and more efficiently then just running tests from head to toe. Mine experience put me in debt over $60,000.00 before it was all over with. Good luck and keep on talking openly and often with your doctor.

Try acupuncture. It is often helpful, especially when Western medicine can't figure out a cause for a condition. What you have sounds like a stress reaction that Chinese medicine can treat effectively.
