As more and more people become unwittingly hooked for life on opiates, do you think more and more lawsuits will be filed against these legal drug dealers? Most people don't fully recognize the extent of the problem until for some reason they are no longer prescribed this form of legal heroin....their doctor retires, change in office policy stopping gratuitous prescrbing of drugs,etc... I know a woman in her fifties who until five years ago had never taken anything stronger than an aspirin in her entire life ( not including alcohol) until she was put on vicodin for a disc problem. Within a few months her body adjusted and she needed more...then the vicodin no longer killed the pain so the good old doctor upped it to percocet. This repeated itself until a couple years later she was being prescribed 3 40 mg. oxycontin a day. Long story short, she's almost 60 with a full blown addiction to opiates, with no script, she spends her enitre SS check buying off the street! SUE 'EM, I say!!!

I have had this pain in my jaw and left ear for several months now. The pain in my ear can be so severe that I have to use heat and just lay down to get rid of it.
I have had sinusitus 3 times this year and my GP has switched me from zyrtec to claritan. I had pneumonia last month and the tightness in my chest has not seemed to go away since then.
My GP keeps telling me that he can find nothing wrong with the left ear but I know there is something wrong as the ear seems to feel like it is full and is draining alot of ear wax.
I don't smoke so I know that is not a factor.

If you are an oxycontin patient, unless your doctor is one of those who will prescibe it for anything from a hang nail to a leg cramp, you have hoodwinked your doctor into believing that you absolutely, positively cannot make it through the say without the aid of a heavy narcotic. (a reality number) So the fact that you are on it, long term, means you are addicted to it. You can blab on and on, all you want, about how you are DEPENDENT...not ADDICTED...but once you are dependent, you are addicted, once you are addicted, you are dependent...DUH?!?! So why can't you just admit it, you're an addict...a junky...it's no big deal really, I mean, nobody FORCED it on you , you asked for it! Of course, someday you'll have to get off it, and THEN you'll see how badly addicted you are, until then....you're living in fantasy land if you think you are'nt a junky.....because you ARE....a junky. I always denied it to...denial isn't just for alcoholics ya know... but once you admit it, u can quit

My left arm has been hurting for nearly a month. Most of the time it feels like I've had a tetanus shot, and I can control it with Aleve, etc., but if I don't take enough Aleve the pain will travel throughout my whole arm and shoulder and shoulder blade and even my left chest. Does anyone have any idea what this might be. Thanks.

Ok I'm thinking that there isn't any way to measure this but it would be interesting to hear your thoughts! I find it fascinating... pain is ultimately subjective..you know: when someone is sick they feel horrible but you have no idea how horrible they are actually feeling!

Even after a sudden physical exercise, the limbs don't feel sore immediately. Instead they feel sore only after some rest or on the next morning. Why does this happen?

May seem like a stupid question, but suppose you do get your eight hours of sleep and you have to study for about 5 hours after class has finished say for a really difficult course like an advanced bilogy course. How can I stop fatigue from entering and ruining my study time. I can't seem to study while I am fatigued. It doesnt seem fair to me that I cannot push myself beyond my physical limits when the ones who can, get better grades.

I personally dont get eight hours of sleep, not due to studying though.

If I got eigt hours of sleep, would studying for 5 hours be possible without the onset of fatigue.

I missed a step and ended up twisting my ankle pretty badly. I hear a pop and it was so painful that I started getting light-headed and dizzy. After about 10 minutes it started to feel better, and when I looked at my foot and felt around I didn't see or feel any broken bones. So I thought "if it still hurts tomorrow, I'll go to the doctor's". So it was still hurting today and it swelled up.
So I went to urgent care and the doctor there said I tore ligaments. Okay, is that the same thing as a sprain? Thanks!!
