Even after a sudden physical exercise, the limbs don't feel sore immediately. Instead they feel sore only after some rest or on the next morning. Why does this happen?

It is called delayed onset muscle soreness.

This is a normal response to unusual exertion and is part of an adaptation process that leads to greater stamina and strength as the muscles recover and build. The soreness is generally at its worst within the first 2 days following the activity and subsides over the next few days.

DOMS is thought to be a result of microscopic tearing of the muscle fibers. The amount of tearing (and soreness) depends on how hard and how long you exercise and what type of exercise you do. Activities that require muscles to forcefully contract while they are lengthening, (eccentric contractions), seem to cause the most soreness. You use eccentric contractions when you descend stairs, run downhill, lower a weight, or perform the downward motion of squats and push-ups. In addition to muscle tearing, swelling can occur in and around a muscle, which can also cause soreness hours later.

The kind you feel 24–72 hours after a hard workout session is due to a mechanical tearing of myofibrils during eccentric or lengthening contractions.

When muscles contract vigorously for long periods the circulatory system begins to lose ground in the delivery of oxygen. In these conditions, most of the pyruvic acid produced in the breakdown of glucose is converted to lactic acid (LA). As the lactate is produced in the muscles, it leaks out into the blood and is carried around the body. If this condition continues the functioning of the body will become impaired and the muscles will fatigue very quickly.

to avoid experiencing this soreness and to avoid further injuries, do a little warm-up exercise and a little strengthening exercise before you do any strenuous exercise. After your strenuous exercise, do not stop right away, spend a little time doing some cool down exercises.

muscles get stretched after a strenuous excersise. Most of the time, it gets sore because of too much tension/pressure endured by the muscles. Each person, depending on his weight, age, etc., should only excercise within a specified time / amount per day. beyond that would definitely cause muscles tightening/soreness.
