Medical charges are not cheap. However, $5,000 is a little on the high side. Get a breakdown of the bill and discuss with the medical provider if certain charges can be reduced.

Depends on why you were being treated. My husband had a heart attack and it cost us more than $100,000. I've had ER visits that were more than 5k. Get an itemized bill and see what they were charging for. Then pay it. Yes, healthcare is very pricey. My malpractice insurance is outrageous, and I've never had a claim. Blame the lawyers and welfare abusers. Sorry for the bad news. Hope you're feeling better.
