i've been working nites for 5 years now.

keeping your room dark will help if you are having trouble sleeping (it tricks your body into thinking it's night). for me personally, i'm so tired when i get home it doesn't matter how dark my room is-i can sleep anyways.

don't drink anything with caffeine in it at least five hours before you get off work. this will prevent you from staying awake. i also don't eat anything after 3a (i get off work at 7a) b/c digestion can also keep you awake.

i always take a warm shower when i get home to help me relax. and i always go to bed no later than 8:30a.

find a schedule and stick to it. i set my alarm to wake up at the same time every day (if i wake up earlier on my own that's ok), and i eat at the same time.

on my days off, i will keep myself up a little late but not stay up all night. some people keep the same schedule on their days off but some people can't depending on lifestyle (i have kids so i have to sleep at night on my days off)

give it some time-your body will eventually adjust.

I work the night shift also and have the same problem. I use a sleep mask (which helps) and try to avoid eating or drinking before going to bed. Ear plugs help as does unplugging the telephone.

I work the night shift also. I have found that taking a nap just before going to work really helps me to stay focused. Also, it wouldn't hurt to take vitamins. If you are anything like me, then you are not eating properly because the meal times are different from what I was used to.

i used to have the same problem. the body wants to SLEEP at night. make your room COMPLETELY dark so your body thinks it is night time. you will fell lots better soon if you do that.
