There is a nerve plexus in your shoulder and armpit called the brachial plexus. When many people drink, they sleep very hard (or pass out). The arm hangs over the arm of a chair or off the bed, or underneath them. This tweaks the nerve plexus, causing pain, weakness, or even paralysis of the arm. Also called "Saturday night palsy." Pretty common. Can become permanent if enough damage is done. Best of luck.
