General Health Care - January 2007

I took some medication an hour ago, but it didn't help (truth be told, it rarely helps so I don't even know why I take it...). What do you do when you have a major headache?

this morning i hit my little toe on my dresser and it hurt very bad since it happened it is now swollen, red, tingling, sore, and painful. here are my questions 1st what do you think is wrong with it ? 2nd i have to go back to work as a waitress in 3 days will i be able to or not. if not i will have to go to the doctor for an excuse. please help thanks in advance

Ok... i hurt my knee in gymnastics, and the docs said if it did not heal right i would have to get surgery and get these metal things in my knees to make them aligned or something like that. The surgery is on wednesday, and I am really nervous!! can anyone help me feel more positive about this whole thing. I am in level 8 gym, and I am not sure if i should quit. I LOVE the sport but it is very hard on my body and i get hurt a lot. i.e. broken arms, legs, ankle... the list goes on... ALSO I am worried b/c I live in hawaii and if I go on an airplane will the metal dector go off when i walk through it?? Is there a document that enables me to be "ok" when walking through it when I co see my family in Italy?? Thanks you soooo much!!

Does this condition have any effect on the mucles surrounding it-
arm,hand and elbow. What are the symptoms if there is an infection?
This has been caused by a blood draw at the elbow for a routine blood check up 4 weeks ago.Still have pain which increases when the hand is exerted. Has burning sensation sometimes and muscle tenderness on the outerside of the arm and slight swelling/stiffeness on the innerside of the forearm and the elbow
Been to 2 pcp's said it will go away and been to a vascular surgeon who didn't say any different and never checked what the symptoms were and did not give me any satisfactory answers which I expected from an expert!). Hence with no answers I am troubled more than ever. This situation is interfering with my daily activities and with people around me.
Please give me serious advice to help with my concerns with your experiences or checking with your doctor friends.
This would mean a lot to me and I will have peace of mind.

ok my neck is like stiff or something rite now. its hard to turn it left cause it starts feeling funny. i think its cause either my friend fell on me ice skating yesterday or i slept funny. watever it is how can i get rid of it.

I have no idea what my vision works out to be if measured on the 'standard' 20/20 scale. My eye doctor never told me. It seems that there should be some sort of rough rule to tell.

I used to get a lot of nosebleeds but I haven't had one at all in 2006... then on 1-4-07 I got one again, then on 1-5-07 I got another one, then today, 1-06-07, I got another one... also in the last 4 days, I have been eating a lot of Pretzels which are very salty... i'm a line cook at a high volume restaurant. through my own and another's stupidity i got splattered with hot butter from a blackening skillet. my arm got the brunt of it but one drop hit my forehead. i had to stay and cook so i couldn't rinse it much for about 1/2 an hour. i held ice to it on and off so as to hopefully cool it without damaging the tissue by freezing it.

now i am home and i have rinsed it for about 15 min in the shower with cool water. i still feel a little sting so i am going back in to rinse some more. i have a raised reddish mark on my forehead. what can i do to minimize scarring?

thanks to everyone who answered me question. I went to the doctor and come to find out i had a torn ligiment and some loose cartilage so now i am wearin a knee brace. but now the big question i have to ok to play on friday so should i or should i not?

Okay so Liek I said I have arm problems they are always hurting me my wrist , elbows, and Shoulders always hurt so I went to the doctors my freshmen year they said Tenedonitis(SP?) and then i went my Junior Year of HS that is and they said Carpal Tunnel and then I went this year and she said she wasn't sure and that is might be arthristis...Now I am going to a Surgeon in March and I don't know what to think. My Doctor asked if I have other joint problems but at the time I wasn't thinking of anything else and said know but then it later on hit me that my hips not very often but sometimes almost feel as if they are grinding....Idk what do you all think? Oh I don't know if this will help but sometimes my fingers go numb when I use them to much which may have given my doctor the reason to think it was carpal tunnel...PLease help I am only 17 I would love to see your opinions

I went sledding the other day with friends and I ended up flying off the sled. My arm landed under me and on top of a hidden branch. It was swollen at first and then a few days later it was still sore and bruised but not swollen. The area near my wrist (which is what hit the branch) now has a bump that hurts a little when I push on it. Is it normal to have a hard bump there? I'm not in terrible pain or anything. This was about 8 days ago.

but this morning i saw a picture of the girl that i stopped all contact with a week before i quit smoking. I miss her, I think. I was actually the reason she smoked as many cigarettes a day as she did.

Could a memory of her be enough to trigger a craving, being that it was a time of major change for me, and both my quitting smoking and her disclusion happened at the same time?

This is only my nineteenth craving since I quit smoking, mind you, and I easily overpowered it with my will. My question is asking if such a memory can induce a craving.

I burned my hand about 3 hours ago. The pain is unbearable. I have burns/blisters on all 5 of my fingers. My thumb and pinkey are the worst, they are both swelled pretty bad. I have to keep ice on it constantly or else the pain becomes unbearable. But I feel dumb going to the ER/doctor... Do i really need to, or is this something that can just be handled at home, and how?
