but this morning i saw a picture of the girl that i stopped all contact with a week before i quit smoking. I miss her, I think. I was actually the reason she smoked as many cigarettes a day as she did.

Could a memory of her be enough to trigger a craving, being that it was a time of major change for me, and both my quitting smoking and her disclusion happened at the same time?

This is only my nineteenth craving since I quit smoking, mind you, and I easily overpowered it with my will. My question is asking if such a memory can induce a craving.

Definitely. It's the same thing as when you think of food and your mouth starts to salivate or you think of a person and can smell their cologne/perfume.

A memory can absolutely induce a craving because you associate that time in your life and that girl with smoking.

Good for you on quitting and being able to keep your cravings at bay!

Most definately. These are the things we learn in AA meetings.
Many drug addicts and alcoholics have drugging and drinking dreams off and on for the rest of their lives. . .sometimes more often if there is something like what you described going on in
their lives and this is why we have to stay on top of our addiction.
Addicted people have to be aware of these things in order to keep from relapse, just as you overpowered your craving.
Good of you to take note of this occurance and next time you will know what is going on and how to handle it.
I have just recently stopped smoking and am using the same 12 step program that I used in stopping my drinking and keeping myself aware of these sort of things is something that I know to watch for. I must also avoid getting into these kinds of situations until I have acquired enough time of not smoking and am strong enough to face them without needing/wanting to smoke.
Great Job.....Keep it up

Sure it can be a trigger for your cravings. My biggest craving always hits in the car after work. That was my favorite cigarette of the day.
