I took some medication an hour ago, but it didn't help (truth be told, it rarely helps so I don't even know why I take it...). What do you do when you have a major headache?

taking a glass of water helps somewhat, actually - i do mostly water with a about 1part apple juice to 9 parts water. you can't taste the juice, but the sugar is there

also, 'head on' is a headache reliever that you rub onto your head. it sorta looks like chapstick. it has its critics, but it seems to work for me. it says on the side that you can take it alongside any other medications, it uses "blue flag" or white or something

Put an ice pack on your head. Drink a cup of coffee or a coke. Quit staring at your computer screen trying to find the cure :-) (I've done it before too) and go rest your eyes in a dark room for a little while.

Feverfew is supposed to prevent or lessen migraine if taken regularly. It doesn't do anything during an actual headache though.

I hope you feel better.

Headaches come in the form of vascular and muscular headaches. Stress, for example, can cause your neck muscles to be tense and cause headaches. When I feel one of these headaches coming on, I do some exercise and that usually helps a lot. Vascular headaches, e.g. migraines, are very complicated and unfortunately there is no quick fix. Some people have them triggered by coffee, nicotine, chocolate, MSG. If the medicine does not help, I would advise you to stop taking it. Why take the risk if there is no benefit? For migraines I would advise: dark room, quiet, cold compresses (e.g. ice bag). Try to sleep. Hope you feel better.

1) if you have it, stop any form of pc work or reading. Straining
your eyes could lead to headache. Relax your eyes by closing
them for half hour. Drink a glass of milk might help. If it
happens often then you probably need to consult an eye
doctor.

2) Sometimes it could be stressed. So play some nice music,
instrumental is the best.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information

I use a topical analgesic cream. The cooling sensation helps my head feel better for some reason, and I suffer from migraines which make me willing to do anything. Don't get anything like bengay close to your eyes...the best thing I found was a patch. They last for hours and are not messy at all. I hope that helps!

I only take EXCEDRIN man that stuff works fast! 15-30 minutes and it's gone. Almost everytime. On a real bad one I have to take a second dose 6 hours later if returns. But usualy gone 1st time. The caffiene really helps.

Drink 2 glasses of gatorade, it can relieve headache pain almost immediately without unpleasant side effects caused by traditional pain killers.

Use an orthopedic pillow. You can get them at walmart cheap. Turn you head side to side slowly (chin to shoulder). If it rattles, or pops, there is your problem. and make sure you don't intoxicate yourself with too much sugar, or too little carbohydrates. Drink lots of water. At least 64 ounces.
