General Health Care - December 2006

In the last half hour, I stubbed my left big toe on a metal wheel on my bed, and got a 2-inch sliver that was embedded in the carpet right into my right big toe, twisted my ankle on the stairs, smashed my knee on my computer desk, and smashed my head on the shower curtain rod.

Any suggestions?

Woke up 2 days ago and found right index finger smarting. Realised after a while that it wasn't the whole finger but the top joint and beyond. Don't remember hurting finger recently but while cleaning last weekend, something felt on right hand below the fingers but just above the wrist (almost behind where thumb joins hand). The spot hurt like hell for around 3 days. Thought it was fractured but the pain went away. A day later index finger started. Don't know if it's related since finger wasn't part of the accident. Index finger feels swollen, it straightens fine but bends with great discomfort. Press on top joint, it hurts;leave it alone, there is a dull ache. Also thought I was bitten by something in my sleep but cannot find any puncture wounds. Or that I was developing arthritis. Had arthritis in the right thumb years ago but no symptoms in a while. Sudden discomfort is strange. Want to know why. Any suggestions?.

Nephew was playing hoops and jumped up for the ball and landed sideways his ankle, it has started to swell up, so I iced it. Any other suggestions on what to do for it. It just happened. He cant even step down on it.

I brought my 5 month old to a pediatric Orthopedic surgeon...A 4hr trip, and I had a problem with the doctor. I was asked to fill out paperwork in office. While working on the papers the doctor came in and introduced himself and started talking to me and I was looking at him the next thing I knew he walked over and took my paperwork away in a rough manner saying
"I want you to listen to me while I am talking".
Well he went on and on then he asked me if I knew anything about a certain condtion and if so what do I know? I opened my mouth to answer he interrupted me and said
"Well, it doesn't matter what you know it is probably wrong".

I figured maybe he had a bad day...after all, all i did was travel 4hrs to be insulted. Anyway my 5month old was smiling and babbling to him (perhaps about the trip) and he just ignored her like the appointment had nothing to do with her. No child manners at all. So much for being a pediatrician.

I had a kickboxing class a couple months ago and injured my knee somehow. The pain was intense and lasted only a few days so I figured I just strained something. However, the same knee keeps acting up, especially on days when I do a lot of physical activity. Is this something I should see a doctor about, or is it just a minor injury that might bother me from time to time?

So my friend bet me that I wouldn't jump off the roof and I did. The landing didn't huirt so much originally but my leg has this huge bump on it and it is purple and really hurts espicially when I touch it. My parents will kill me if they find out that I broke my leg because we can't afford any more medical bills because of my dad having expensive lug cancer treatments.

What should I do abut my leg so that my parents wont find out? I can barley walk.

i went to a doctor once when i was 10 and he told me i had fluid in my knee but nothing serious, now i went snowboarding last thursday and i fell ontop of my knee. when i came home i wrapped my knee in warm towels but it feels like a knife cut right through it, its not dislocated. but would it have to do anything with that fluid? i also have this when i run.

I have gotten injured a lot in sports. I've broken bones, sprained ankles many of times. Im a little cautious of jumping up high towards the hoop to draw a foul when i drive threw the lane in basketball because i dont wanna come down and be out 4-8 weeks on a sprained ankle. Im also a little cautious when trying to draw the offensive foul by falling back because ive broken my wrist before trying to brace a fall.
Any way(s) of just putting this fear or cautiousness out of my mind or forgetting it. Thank you

When my knee is bent for about 10 minutes it starts hurting really bad and the seconed i stretch it out perfectly straight it's an instant relief. This happened to me through out kindergarten(we sat on the carpet with our legs crossed all day). But throught out my life it's once in a while. I will go through a week of it then it goes away for a long time. Now it came and its staying!! My knee hurts when i put any pressure on it. I cant get up on my own if i kneal down. Any thoughts?

-walk and a driver ran a red light. There's no liability dispute. I got a fracture at C2 (neck) but, wasn't paralyzed & was taken by amb to the hosp for 3 days and have been conservatively treating. I have surgery sched in Jan. to repair a disk herniation where the break occurred. I've had back surgery before and know it is hell to go through, but was all healed up prior to this. I'mgoing broke from not working and haven't hired an attorney because I thought ins. co. would be fair. My medical bills are 25K and the surgery will run another 65K. My lost earning are 50K so far, but will go on another 3 mos after surgery. I have my own bus. & do physical work, & haven't worked since the acc because my dr said that with the fract its too dangerous. Policy limits are 250K. They offered me 45K b4 they knew about surg & cost. Also they sent my lost earnings to CPA to verify cuz I'm self employed. Now I've sent that in and am wondering to to expect & accept? Serious answers only please.

I have been suffering from problems with my ears for about 7 weeks i first went to the doctors about 6 weeks ago and he gave me antibiotics coz he said there was an ear infection but that didnt go i went back he gave me drops coz he said there was a build up in my ears. It still didnt go so i went back and he said there was an infection so he gave me antibiotics. I went a fourth time to a differnt doctor and she said there is no infecition and no wax build up. So she is refering me to the hospital to have a hearing test. I have to wait 6 to 8 weeks for an appointment. My symptoms are both ears hurt from time to time not alot. There is no discharge. There is somtimes a whistling noise in my ears sometimes it sounds like i can hear my bload flowing. It is very unacomfortable at time and i can only hear it when its silent or not much noise also ive bin geting banging nosises in my left ear please help me
