Just don't stress out too much over it right now because if you're like me you're imagining it to be something much worse than what it really probably is.
It really probably is just trapped gas (this can be very painful, very sharp stabbing pains) or something that has to do with your female area.
I bet it goes away after tonight. If you still have the pain tomorrow, or if it gets worse then you should see a Dr.
It probably isn't appendicitis because the pain for that is always on the right.
Good luck. :o)

If you are female it could a cyst on your ovary or something called a hydatid on your fallopian tube. It's nothing more than a small harmless growth that can cause excruciating pain that comes and goes with no warning. Keep track of when it happens and if it seems to follow a pattern with your menstrual cycle...your doctor will want to know.
It could have been something you ate also!

Owie! It depends on your gender..it could be gas, as your bowels and stomach are more on your left side of the body..or if your a female, it could very well be ovulation pain..some females can feel it, and not necessarily all the time. Try heating pad, position change, or if it presists, then obviously, seek medical attention.

The lower left abdomen is the home of the descending colon. Constipation, gas, or a spasm, or a combination thereof, can all cause pain in this area.

Had you just eaten? If so, it could just be a simple case of indigestion or trapped wind. Did you head out straight after eating? You don't have to have been running to get a stitch.
Appendicitis is another big one, but if the pain went away, it won't be that. Pain in your appendix is usually quite low in your abdomen, too.
