I brought my 5 month old to a pediatric Orthopedic surgeon...A 4hr trip, and I had a problem with the doctor. I was asked to fill out paperwork in office. While working on the papers the doctor came in and introduced himself and started talking to me and I was looking at him the next thing I knew he walked over and took my paperwork away in a rough manner saying
"I want you to listen to me while I am talking".
Well he went on and on then he asked me if I knew anything about a certain condtion and if so what do I know? I opened my mouth to answer he interrupted me and said
"Well, it doesn't matter what you know it is probably wrong".

I figured maybe he had a bad day...after all, all i did was travel 4hrs to be insulted. Anyway my 5month old was smiling and babbling to him (perhaps about the trip) and he just ignored her like the appointment had nothing to do with her. No child manners at all. So much for being a pediatrician.

He does have a few collegues...its just this is the only place this close...It would be 6hrs travel otherwise. Times like this I wish I didn't live in Maine. I will ask her regular pediatrician for a referal to see one of the collegues. Thank you...it is nice to know I wasn't overreacting.

I think this kind of behavior from a dr is INEXCUSABLE, particularly when a baby is involved. Can you imagine continued dealings with him, God forbid, if the child should need further care? Is this the kind of man you feel you can solicit information from freely without feeling intimidated or annoyed?
I say don't waste time....move on...get another referral.
It may be hard enough for you to read the baby's symptoms and figure out what she needs, you don't need the dr making it more difficult.

I would NOT, and I repeat ....... I would NOT see this doctor again. He's not personable at all. And obviously he won't take the time to listen if you had questions, or doubts or whatever. If you want to continue traveling this far to get your son treatment then I'd see a different doctor for sure. Why waste your time with this jerk?? And why must he be so ignorant.... here's a guy who's practically demanding your respect/attention but won't do the same for you. I wouldn't put more money in his bank account! No way.

That is rude. Bad day or not I've never had a doctor treat me like that! Apprently they don't teach "Bed side manner" in college anymore! I would have reported it to a higher authority. No one should ever be treated like that! Ever! Under any circumstances!

Yes, ask your doctor to refer your child to another doctor because that first one was rude and you do not want your child treated by him. You do not have to put up with that egotistical person. There are fine, caring doctors out there.

Rude, unprofessional, no people skills. I would complain to someone above him. Go find someone else, definitely!

You need to be comfortable with a physician. A physician should listen, treat you with courtesy, and have patience.

Don't go back to this guy!
