Who knows? If you're over 40, it's possibly arthritis as most of us will have arthritis at this age. If you're been active doing gardening, playing golf, playing tennis, or any activity that involved bending your elbow, you might have tendonitis ("tennis elbow) and it's very painful. It could be the way you're sleeping at night: using a big pillow that elevates your head so that your chin touches your chest will pinch nerves in your arm. So...get a good hot shower on that elbow to get some heat and circulation to the area; (you can use ice packs after this to ease the pain and inflammation and alternate heat with ice), take a couple of aspirin or ibuprophen wth food (reduces inflammation and pain), use a pillow that's not too full, and rest your arm on a pillow at night when you sleep. It might take a week or so for it to feel better and for the inflammation to go down. In the meantime, see a doctor. Godloveya.
