Ugh. I went through this a few months ago. No fun.

If it's just swelling, it will probably go away very soon. Are you still in pain, though? I had dry sockets and was in extreme pain. If that is your case, see your oral surgeon and have him pack your sockets with this clove-tasting stuff. It helps SO much! Also you could take ibuprofen/Advil. Prescription strength is 800 mg at a time.

i would call your dentist asap. he should have given pills for pain and antibotics and a list of things you can do for these symtoms. you could use an ice pack but cover with a thin cloth so you don't hurt your cheeks - you could call an emergency room for advice or a druggist. i know your dentist might be closed until tues. because of the holiday, so try the others i told you about. hope your feeling better! happy new year! betty boop

Try ice packs every 2 or 3 hours. Put ice in ziplock bag and squeeze air out and zip. Put dishtowel around it and put it against your face for about 15 min. every 2-3 hours. This helps a lot.

You should call your dentist even if you have to have them paged. He/She will tell you how he would like for you to be treated. You must really be uncomfortable so don't put it off. Best of luck to you!!
