I was just wondering what the virus is? My stepmom was just diagnosed with cirvical cancer and the doctors said it was caused by the virus. I know that its a sexually transmitted disease but really how long do you have to have this virus before it turns into cancer, and is it like any other STD? I just want some info so that I understand. Thanks

I've heard the warning repeated so many times, "Practice safe sex!!" but I don't think I've ever had anyone officially define the term.

So, what exactly is "safe sex?" I just started becoming sexually active last night, I'm in a completley monogamous relationship with my g/f who I've dated for 2 months, and she's taking the birth control pill. Would you classify this as safe sex?

Thanks

I was wondering how long do genital warts usually take to leave? And...how can you tell they are leaving? Is there a feeling of some sort? On average, how long does Aldara usually take to get rid of them?
Sorry, have alot of questions.

Where does this leave men? Shouldn't men be able to get the vaccine also? Especially since the news today about HPV causing throat cancer.

this time it was for asking a question about getting throat cancer from oral sex - it was in the news today and I wanted to know if the HPV virus was just contained in semen. I didnt mean to offend so apologies if I did so. Still want to know the answer though !
