Just because he has an STD doesn't mean it's a guarantee you will get it.

I have had genital herpes for 6+ years. I was with my ex for almost 4 years and he never contracted the virus from me.

Be glad you didn't get it from him!

Just because your husband has had an STD does not mean that you would necessarily get it. If it was one that has been treated for with medication, that would be a reason, or if it is one that does not leave the body like herpes, you've been lucky enough not to get it. You are more suceptible to herpes if you have contact during an outbreak, though it is still possible to get it at other times. Does your husband know what the STD was or is? If you have tested negative for all STDs then it would be pretty helpful to find out what it was and protect yourself accordingly.

he may not have passed the std on to you, or you may have not had any symptoms or effects from the std. He could also possibly have had one in the past that was curable with medication like gonorrhea or chlamydia. Either way you should continue to get checked for std's in the future.

There has been numerous occasions where a sex partner of someone who has STD that did not come down with it. Your immune system could have been extremely high, or he might have contacted it after your last sexual contact.
You also could be going through the incubation period as to where it has not matured enough to be detected. Would recommend retesting in 30 days.

Maybe he caught it after you last had sex? You didn't say what the STD is?
