I keep seeing all the news about this new vaccine and they always talk about women up until age 26. Does anyone know why?? I would think we would want every woman to have it. I'm married and have been with my honey for 12 years. But you never know. . .I may be a freewheeling single again someday and need the protection?

If hiv blood is left for five minutes on a surface and is then washed off with water is there still enough hiv on the table to transmitt? What if you use soap, handwash or shampoo - would that kill the hiv instantly? I would be very grateful if you give a scientific or factual answer.

I was at an ice stadium for iceskating. I borrowed a pair of iceskating shoes. The room where the staff had stored the iceskating shoes was as cold as the ice stadium itself. Afterwards I found that there was a cut on the back of my foot. The shoes were really poor quality. Anyone could have got their blood onto the shoes too. From one of the sites it said that hiv can survive for months at 3 degrees. Is this true and if so is there a risk of getting hiv or any other bloodborne diseases?

For 5 days now I have had extreme itching and burning. I thought it was a yeast infection so I started treating for that. Now today I still have the itching and burning but there is also blood in the discharge. Is it possible that this is still a yeast infection or does this sound like something else? * note I am sexually active but I have been with the same partner for 6 years now*

What's involved in the test? Is it bad? I'm long overdue to get checked out and I'd like to know what to expect before I head off to the doctor.
Also, do I need to go to a gynecologist or just a normal GP?

Why is it that in our day and age we are still unable to find cures for viruses, such as HPV, HSV, or HIV? What research is being done to find a cure? I have been looking online and it seems that most research is focusing on treatment, not finding a cure. Are we somewhat close to finding the first virus cure or are we still miles off? I would appreciate a knowledgable answer and references and links if you have them. Thanks so much.

If your partner feels that they are not infected and they "care about you oh so much", getting tested shouldn't be a problem. Right?

I've made up my mind already. We're no longer speaking. I just want to get your take on this matter. And please, be honest.
