As for HIV there's a "window period" where u contract the virus, have it in your blood, can transmit it to others, but the antibodies are not detectable when tested.
The three month window period is normal for most of the population. Many people will have detectable antibodies in three or four weeks. Very, very rarely (i.e., only a few cases ever), a person could take six months to produce antibodies.

a couple days after intercourse for the stds but again in 3 months for blood tests that will show if you have HIV or anything else, and then just to make sure go again in 6 months, but you cant have unprotected sex at all if you want to be sure about your tests
