to be safe and not play Russian roulette just think it is 100%. why take any chances cause you just don't ever know what tomorrow may bring. Hollilynn may be right about some of her info but not all of it.

These people don't know what they are talking about. They are pulling percentages out of their yeehahs.
The honest answer is that it varies with every person.
First of all it depends if it was a single encounter or if it was multiple instances.
Secondly, it depends on your immune systems ability to fight off infection
Fourth, it depends on whether it was heterosexual or homosexual contact and ethnicity plays a role as well. Gay males are the most likely candidates to contract an STD and Lesbians are the least likely. African American females are the most likely to contract Syphilis etc
Lastly, all infectious disease varies. HIV and Syphilis are more difficult to contract than Gonorrhea and Chlamydia. There is always the potential to contract an STD through your partner but it is not 100% that you will. Safe sex is always a better practice but that is not a 100% either. Genital Herpes can be contracted even with the use of a condom but some people are immune to contracting herpes even without the use of a condom.
Surprisingly the odds of contracting HIV through a single unprotected instance averages to about 1 in every 1,000 people. Some people have partners with HIV and continue to have unprotected sex for years and never contract the disease
