I just learned that a sympton of HPV could be genital warts and that means the low risk strand and that Stated may make it mandatory for girls to get the vaccine as early as the age of 9.

Someone please tell me what the HPV warts look like and where there located( pubic area, etc.) Some one on answers said you can get it from a handshake with someone who has it and may not have washed their hands. i'm concerned cause i think i have HPV but my gyno didn't say anything about it on my last visit.

All the uproar over vaccinating girls for the HPV virus made me think. If there was a vaccine for the AIDS virus would people object to their children getting the vaccine? If so what makes it different from the HPV vaccine currently offered that people so vehemently oppose for their middle school daughters (an age before they begin being sexually active as to thus protect them whenever they become active weather it be 16, 26 or 36.)

So my question really is, if there was an AIDS vaccine and they were giving it to all 5th graders, would you object to your child recieving the vaccine?

Alright I have many questions about HPV and I would really like for the answers to be right on target please.

17 Female/

1. Is the only way to get HPV through some form of sexual contact?
2. If not then if I was to shake hands with someone, who for some reason had it on there hand, then would I get it on my hand?
3. Does HPV only infect the 'genital area'?
4. If I have not had any sexual contact (i.e sex, oral, touching that region, kissing...) what so ever then should i not be worried about having HPV?
5. Even though I've never had sexul contact and get these bumps on my 'area' then should I be worried? (I actually think they may be ingrown hairs, but im not sure)

any extra information would be helpful.
Thanks and God Bless.

I know this question sounds retarded, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any hispanics with herpes. If so, what is their gender and age.

If you have herpes 1 do you automatically get genital herpes.

I live in Spokane, Washington--NOT DC, this is the Washington no one knows about, lol. =) Anyway...I feel that the whole thing with this new vaccine being MANDATORY in Texas and the other states considering whether to follow suit with this...I feel it's a bunch of B.S. I personally feel this way for a number of things. First off, it only protects against FOUR--yes, 4--strains of this virus, and there's TONS MORE, I believe it's around 30, tell me if I'm wrong, please. That's way to few for it to be MANDATORY! Also, it's an STD--10 year old's wont be having sex, why make it mandatory for them??? This reminds me of how I feel about abortion: you have the choice for whatever you do or dont want! I feel it's WRONG to make this mandatory for women when it has only been tested on MEN so far!! What if, like the MMR vaccine, it causes autism years later--or infertility?? It hasnt been studied for nearly enough time.
Any advice for this letter I'm gonna send my senators? Anything is helpful.=)

My mom has tested positive for HPV, the cancer-causing agent for cervical cancer. Here's my questions:
1. Can I be 100% certain that one OR both of my parents were having extra-marital sex?
2. If extra-marital sex was definitely involved, is there any way of determining which of them was cheating?
3. Is there any way at all for HPV to be transmitted non-sexually?

They keep acting as if HPV (which causes cervical cancer) is always an STD. Can't it be transmitted non-sexually as well?

Cancer or AIDS , I think cancer has a much higher mortality rate.
So therefore cancer is the scariest thing that anyone could have !
