I live in Spokane, Washington--NOT DC, this is the Washington no one knows about, lol. =) Anyway...I feel that the whole thing with this new vaccine being MANDATORY in Texas and the other states considering whether to follow suit with this...I feel it's a bunch of B.S. I personally feel this way for a number of things. First off, it only protects against FOUR--yes, 4--strains of this virus, and there's TONS MORE, I believe it's around 30, tell me if I'm wrong, please. That's way to few for it to be MANDATORY! Also, it's an STD--10 year old's wont be having sex, why make it mandatory for them??? This reminds me of how I feel about abortion: you have the choice for whatever you do or dont want! I feel it's WRONG to make this mandatory for women when it has only been tested on MEN so far!! What if, like the MMR vaccine, it causes autism years later--or infertility?? It hasnt been studied for nearly enough time.
Any advice for this letter I'm gonna send my senators? Anything is helpful.=)

By 'advice'--I mean medical facts, political facts, your opinions on what I should say, whatever. =) I do NOT mean a free-for-all discussion on this topic...I am sending this letter whether you agree or not, so if you post disagreeing with me, I'm STILL sending the letter. Thank you.

Alright, Mr. Perfect, (you know who you are, buddy) maybe there is no CONCLUSIVE study, as of yet, that the MMR vaccine and autism ARE linked, because they are still doing studies right now. But you wait. When they finish I bet anything they'll find a link. As of right now, there is no proof that the MMR vaccine does or DOES NOT cause autism. So hah, you're not right, either. Also, I am not stupid for believing that it causes autism--the studies have NOT YET been concluded. So you can shut it, and I'm voting a huge THUMBS DOWN for your cruddy, unconstructive answer so no one will have to read that junk. Thanks...or not. =)

I think you are speaking of that virus that is transmitted sexually and leads to ovarian cancer. At first I was against the "mandatory" vaccine myself, but all you need is to sign an affidavit to opt out if against your beliefs, so not really mandatory. I don't blame you for being upset because it is intrusion by the govt., but its so easy to opt out so not worth fighting over.

MMR Vaccine DOES NOT CAUSE AUTISM!!!
I wish ignorant people like you would quit perpetuating this myth. There is not one scientific study that has been conclusive showing a link despite hundreds of studies. You show me one just one credible study that says otherwise and I'll shut up but I guarantee you can't. This mercury hypothesis has been disproven time and time again but people like you throw it out there like it's fact. Why? All you're doing is confusing a lot of desperate parents and creating a false hysteria. Please get your facts straight.

*****************************************************

I really hate you've chosen to further illustrate your ignorance. Could you point me to one of these studies you know so much about that are showing a link? Something that has been peer reviewed and published-Not some crap written by a journalist who took a weekend crash course in autism. You state clearly above that vaccines cause autism. You are wrong and I'm just pointing that out. It's clear you can't handle being wrong.

There are by contrast tons of studies that have NOT found a link. The scientific community has all but abandoned this insane argument. Take a read before you go off spewing to your senator-you'll only come across as a fanatic.

I can say with confidence I know more about this than you as I've studied it extensively for years. It is irresponsible for you to claim to anyone that vaccines cause autism because you cannot back it up with anything. As a parent of a special needs child, I deal with enough brainwashed people like you everyday. It is my job to make sure you have your facts straight and prevent your ignorance from spreading further. You've provided the typical hostile response that fanatics usually do. Good job. It just makes your argument look more silly.

I did not know there was a mandatory vaccine. But if that were the case I would sue the government before they shot me or my family with it. I don't think any government has the right to decide what potentially dangerous drug they can inject into anyone!

good for you! I'm totally against the concept of the mandatory vaccine, especially with the recent track record of the FDA.
