My mom has tested positive for HPV, the cancer-causing agent for cervical cancer. Here's my questions:
1. Can I be 100% certain that one OR both of my parents were having extra-marital sex?
2. If extra-marital sex was definitely involved, is there any way of determining which of them was cheating?
3. Is there any way at all for HPV to be transmitted non-sexually?

1. No, you cannot. HPV can lie dormant for years before becoming obvious and some people who have it do not know they do, but can still spread it to others. Your mom either got it from a past relationship or she got it from your dad (who may have it and not know it).

2. See #1.

3. No.

HPV is a fairly new STD and studies show that a person could have contracted it the very first time they had sex....most of the time it clears on it's own and other times it turns into pre-cancer cells.

So unless your parents were each others first...then don't worry

yes.it is transmitted from skin to skin contact.

Genital HPV is spread through skin-to-skin contact, not through an exchange of bodily fluid.

you could get it from shaking someones hand.
