I've had a cold for a few days, and I'm starting to feel better, but my cough seems to be exasperated when I sleep or lie down. Why is this, and would sleeping elevated help me at all?

Explain how allergies, the common cold or influenza change the structures of the respiratory system and cause a decrease in gas exchange. Can anyone help in detail?

My younger sister in law has been having terrible stomach pains, and the Drs. have been drawing blood, running tests and couldn't come up with anything for the longest time. Finally, a Nurse called my Mother in law today and told her that she has "Sand" in her Liver. My mother in law asked how she could have gotten Sand in her Liver? and the Nurse told her that it could be from her diet. She has to go in for more testing. She never asked what that intales when you have Sand in your liver? Does anyone out there know what that means? How does it happen and what has to be done? Weird......really weird. I never heard of that. I just wonder if any of you have?!?!

Ever since a week ago, I have been waking up with a tendency to cough. 2 morinings ago I had a slight wheeze but nothing serious. I have no fever, no running nose, never had a sore throat...it's just I have to cough and it's sort of deep, and im beginning to cough stuff up. I guess that could mean it's breaking up. I feel fine though. Yesterday I could exercise for 35+ minutes playing basketball, and had no problems breathing. I don't think it could be bronchitis/pneumonia. Any ideas Thanks

I have a throat infection & my doctor sent me to a pharmacy for antibiotic tablets called "PINACLAV TABS 25-/125MG CO-AMOXICLAV". He told me to gargle them, does this mean dissolve in water, gargle & swallow or gargle & spit??

The past 2 years I haven't been sleeping well. I got a promotion at my job and have been really stressed out. I don't know if stress is what is triggering it but it could be. The other night my hubby was in bed next to me. He said I stopped breathing twice in about 30 minutes. It went on for about 10 seconds. When we first got together I didn't snore and slept through the entire night. I want some real life opinions before I go to the doctor.

No and again I've noticed I get this problem. I've had it since i've ever known, I seem to be bunged up and can't seem to breathe as well through the one nostril. What do you think causes this? Is it just the way my sinus is? It's never caused a problem but I just wondered is it common?

I already posted about this one a while ago and here's a link http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=ArjzkWerAqUi.Jf1WeEemNjsy6IX?qid=20070220222229AA2UW7g
From the symptoms that I had before the only ones I have left are runny nose and sore (actually I'd say itchy throat and it itches right where the openings from the nose meet the throat). If i use a flashlight to look at my throat I can see 7-8 red sports on the back of it right behind the tonsils. It usually feels itchy at night or in the morning. Same thing with the runny nose and sometimes i get it at night. I followed what the guy told me on the link posted above and it didn't do anything at all. The spots won't go away or even get smaller. I've had this condition for about 5-6 weeks now. When I went to the doctor he said that i have reflux which is when stomach acid gets into the throat at night and irritates it. I read about it, and it got me thinking. Most people that have it can actually taste the acid at night i cant

When I wake up in the morning my chest hurts inside when I take a deep breath or semi deep breath. I also cough when I laugh. And yes I smoke. It's almost like my lungs can't expand that much.
I know I need to stop smoking. I plan on trying soon.

I have a bad cough and my chest hurts. I went to the doctos today and they said I had a sinus infection and gave me antibiotics, an antihistamine, and an antiinflamatory. I cough was hard I throw up. I think I have pnuemonia beause its all in my chest and not in my nose. Can the doctor hear pnuemonia in the chest, without needing an x-ray?
