Sorry for your problems! You don't ever have to have an asthma attack to be asthmatic. I have it too, but have never had one. I did smoke, so, I coughed at night, wheezed sometimes, and had trouble breathing. Just felt like my lungs where 'full' or couldn't get a deep breath. My doc put my on Advair-it's a long acting bronchodilator with steroid. Works wonderfully. Never have to use Albuterol (or rescue inhaler). I never cough, never wheeze. Ask your doc, you have to use it by prescription, and cause of your history, I wouldn't suggest internet scripts. See someone, cause that may not be it. Something else might be going on. Good luck on your training, you'll get there!

From personal experience I tell you it could be asthma. I've never had an attack but wheeze, have problems lying down, exercising and constant feeling of something lodged in my throat. I use the inhaler twice a day.
I believe the cause is not from allergens in the home or environment but they can worsen it. I tried a detox diet for 7 days and it was the best I breathed in ages. I slept better, felt lighter inside and lost that lump in my throat.
I suggest you look at your diet carefully and consider it, as there are so many chemicals in the foods we eat now. I would never have believed if someone else told me how much better you could feel from eating different foods, but i was feally so rotten I had to try it out myself. The worst part of the detox was the headaches from lack of caffeine and price of some of the alternatives (unsalted cashews, rice milk). I found I really enjoyed alot of the new foods and continue to eat them daily with the others.

Okay, my first suggestion, is to sleep propped up with a couple pillows, since it's difficult to breathe laying down. You need to go into the doc and have an xray to see what's going on with your lungs, hopefully it won't be a major problem. Oh, another thing.....if you could tape record your breathing pattern (they have those tape recorders that turn on and off with sound),and play it for the doc, it might help. I hope you get to feeling better!

Gee, you're miserable, and I wish I had an answer for
you that would lead you back to pre-accident normal.
Have you tried an Allergist? Have your lung rechecked
or x-rayed. Last of all, try an Internist. I hate going doctor
to doctor as it's expensive, but hate to see you spend the
rest of your life in such a condition. God Bless.
