I am 29 years old and have struggled with minor respiratory symptoms for almost as long as I remember. However, my symptoms were not serious enough to diagnose anything or seek treatment for. I think at times my parents thought I was "faking". Lately I have the feeling of not getting enough air almost all the time. The symptoms are definitely worse at night, when I am laying down. Sometimes my chest feels tight, sometimes I have to sit up striaght with my arms over my head to breathe, and sometimes I have to yawn to get in enough air. For the past 2 weeks or so I have also had a vague pain in my left rib cage. I think my symptoms have been getting progressivley worse since having my 2nd child 15 months age. Any suggestions? I am trying to get a doctor's appointment next week.

I checked 2 clinics and both seen something in my xray. The first clinic put me to test using the PPD and resulted positive whereas the second clinic put me to sputum test and found negative. I never had any TB before. Which clinic is more reliable? If ever I had this Pulmonary Scar or Fibroid PTB, where did i got this from. I am a Mechanical Engineer working in a Cement Plant.

I've already taken a full course of Zithromax. I was feeling almost back to normal for two days and then sick again. Now I am starting to get pains in my lungs but I don't feel the same way the first time I was sick. I also feel more winded and really grouchy. I heard that bronchitis can turn into pnemonia, but am not sure. Should I wait to see what happens or should I seek care?

I have had asthma since I was a teenager but it has only gotten worse within the past 6 years (I'm in my mid 20's). Because I'm still learning about how to deal with it, I tend to get embarrassed if I have to use my inhaler in public, or if I have to explain to coworkers why I was out the day before. I also get incredibly scared when I have an attack and usually end up crying - could also be why I get embarrassed about it...

Can anyone relate to feeling embarrassed by having asthma? Does anyone else cry when you have a bad attack? I just feel stupid because I'm in my twenties...

My child takes Pulmicort inhaler daily with a spacer made of metal, but the GP said they are not longer available and replaced it with a plastic one. Can I continue using the metal spacer or is better to replace it for the plastic one? which of the two is better?

I went to the Doc yesterday for a bad case of bronchitis. Last time I had it, a couple years ago, I got to the pharmacy and was shocked how much the pills were (even with insurance.) So yesterday I told him I wanted generics. When I got the perscriptions they all had brand names, but the "generic" box was checked and sure enough the pharmisist gave me all generics Clarithomycin, Benzonatete, and Hydromet syrup. Instead of being $130 it was only $30.

But is there a diffrence? Particluarly in the antibiotic?

I am specifically looking to find what the daily dose is for various products in the COPD area. For the UK I've been able to get this from MIMS, and for France I have used VIDAL. But does anyone know of any international references I can use? I've checked out the ISPOR site, but it doesn't seem to have anything appropriate.

From time to time my breath gets really shallow, which makes it hard to exert energy and speak. I can't find a pattern to it. Does anyone know what causes shallow breathing?

My kids went to their dad's house for xmas vacation---my son had the flu when he went and their dad's step son had the flu as well. My 2 girls did not. Then a few days later One of my girls got sick---assuming the flu. Anyway, it has been 2 weeks now and I have them back. My son seems better but still a very dry cough and fatigue and my daughter feels better but still has a very nasty cough that just wont go away with medicine and she too is fatigue and doesnt want to eat as good as she usually does.. I figured after 2 weeks the flu should have cleared up by now. Or atleat alittle---they have no fevers. What is weird is my older daughter was around all this and didnt get sick at all. Thank goodness....anyway is this pneumonia?

What are some cause of "water" in your lungs? Is it treatable??

i know the best thing would be to go to the doctor..but it's for my grandma. my family really doesn't have money to take her into a good doctor. She lives in Mexico. Doctor's told her that smoke might have been the cause of this illness. We really don't know if this is true. Is there any treatment for this? She is anemic and she has pneumonia. my grandma is 90 years old. we are scared she might not resist a harsh treatment.

I've been using albuterol with a USP propellant, now my pharmacy is only selling albuterol HFA and it doesn't work? The USP type worked great as a fast acting inhaler, the HFA type doesn't work for me? I know it's the same medicine with a different propellant but it doesn't help my symptoms.
