The later in life a child is allowed to be obese, the more likely they will be an obese adult. For example, 80% of obese adolescents are obese adults. This puts them at amazingly high risk for diabetes, heart disease, liver dysfunction, to name a few disorders. As parents are the nutritional providers for their children and as their mis-management may be a death sentence for their offspring in 30- 40 years, would you say this is child abuse? Would you recommend separating the child from the home (like other abused children)? Why or why not?

Does anyone know what test and where I should go to do it at to see if I have an allergy/sensitivity to certain foods. The only one I know of is an IGE specific blood test. Does anyone know how reliable this test is?

I had an EMG nerve conduction study of the upper extremity and the results showed carpal tunnel in both left/right wrist and ulnar nerve entrapment. Will it show other conditions like MS?

I've been having recurrent pain on the lower right side of my belly for at least two years. Sometimes it's intense, sometimes it's dull, and sometimes there's no pain at all...but it occurs at least every week. When it happens, I can barely move and sometimes it's accompanied by vomiting. I've been to a few doctors, tried all their advice, and no one seems to know what the problem is. Test results are all negative. I don't care what it takes at this point--I can't live in pain any longer. All my doctors have said they don't believe there's such a thing as recurrent appendicitis, but I wonder if this is my problem. Should I just request to have my appendix out, or is it even possible to have this operation if it's not an emergency? Has anyone else had this experience?

I just had tonsillitus In October/November of last year and now I have it again. It isn't as bad this time, but it's only been going on for two days. Do I need to see the doctor again? Can one of those quick clinic things diagnose tonsillitus? My doctor's practice just went out of business and I haven't switched to a new doctor.

Also, I am immune to almost all antibiotics, so I'm not sure if I should get on them again right away, but as far as I know it's the only treatment for tonsillitus.

Hemochromatosis ...
i have this rare disorder, i'm 24. i take the proper precautionary measures which is pretty simple - to give blood.
But my question has more to do with my loss of red blood cell count.

I'm afraid this takes a toll on my training and performance as an athlete in one of the more demanding sports - triathalons. is there any safe and legal way to reproduce more red blood cells after i've given blood?? or is it possible my body regenerates additional red blood cells following my donation?

In October, I began having pain in my upper left abdomin. This was accompanied by extreme fatigue and a 12 pound weight loss in 2 weeks. I went to the doctor who is stumped and seems a little unconserned. He has done a sonogram, blood tests and x-rays and has found nothing. The pain became a little less and flairs up from time to time but is always present at least a little. It is up under my rib cage and is an annoying dull pain. Sometimes it gets worse and feels like salt on an open wound only inside of my body or it becomes sharp pain. I have dizzy spells that come and go. It is too high in my abdomin to be the colon and doesn't seem to be helped by anything that soothes the stomach like antacids and things of that sort. I have also been running about a 100 degree temp most of the time. I feel drained and tired all of the time and noting I do or eat seems to make it better or worse. It just is there constantly and gets worse to the point of me doubling over from the pain. Help!

I drink about once a week but when I do I drive to the liquor store almost as if I'm on a mission. I get home or go out to friends and I start drinking and I drink and drink and drink even if I know I'm drunk..it's like I just want to keep on drinking. The next morning I'm so hungover and I'm sick all day, throwing up and with a headache and I wonder how I managed to drink so much because I don't conciously think of it at the time. I keep telling myself that I will never drink again but I ALWAYS DO. Am I an alcoholic?
