Yes. Men do get FMS. Studies have shown that there are many more women than men with the illness. However, the level of disability is generally greater in the men that have it vs thier female counterparts. If you would like more information, check out Men Surviving FMS on the web. Just type it into your search engine because it's a smaller site that doesn't have the luxury of a dot com.

Hey Darin, the three meds mentioned are not gender specific at all. You may have gotten that impression from commercials and ads. They seem to target the female audience. It's true that fibro is seen in females more than males, but our treatment is the same. The only way to know which med will work for you is trial and error cause we all respond differently. Good luck at the doctor tomorrow. Side note: you may enjoy talking with others with fibro. There are several yahoo groups for fibro. The Fibromyalgia_Support_Group has a few men in the group. The group shares a lot of good info, along with support for one another in dealing with this condition. You really don't understand it unless you have it. Hope you respond well to whichever medicine your doc has you try!

yes....it's not gender specific although more common in females for some reason. My dad has Fibromyalgia combined with Parkinsons & that combo is rough to handle.
