Does anyone know what test and where I should go to do it at to see if I have an allergy/sensitivity to certain foods. The only one I know of is an IGE specific blood test. Does anyone know how reliable this test is?

Outside of what has already been answered, much depends on why you need, want a food allergy test? I decided to keep a Diary for over 12 months where I wrote down what I did during the day, exercise, what I ate during the day and how I felt before I went to bed. I have Arthritis, so wanted to see if their was any link between foods and red hot swollen joints. After 12 months I went back through this Diary and found three foods that certainly upset the joints. If I drank or ate them, the following morning I could not get out of bed due to the stiffness, pain. Therefore I kept away from those foods and have been mobile since. In fact long gone are those red hot swollen joints and I do not want them back. If you think you have a food allergy, depending on how or what the affects are, try keeping a health log and see if you can make the connection. I had the Gluten Test although I do not like bread, so hardily eat it. However I have the auto antibodies, but they are borderline, so as long as they stay borderline, I should be fine.

Hi! It depends on what you are testing for. If you are testing general food allergies, (wheat, eggs, strawberries, peanuts, etc.) You should see a board certified allergist. If you are talking about Celiac Disease, an autoimmune disease where a persons' body cannot digets GLUTEN (a protein found in wheats, rye and barley--oats are avoided due to cross contamination). Then you need to see an gastrointelogist (sp?) A GI doc with knowledge and understanding in Celiac Disease (CD) can help you get blood test to test for IGG, IGA and TTG antibodies for CD.
No blood test is foolproof but if you use a well recommended doctor you should be ok. Obviously you have to trust that the doctor is doing what is best, buti f you are in doubt, dont' forget its your health, don't be afraid to get a second, third or tenth opinion! Celiac Disease is hard to diagnose sometimes, (took me 15 years) and is troublesome to figure out.
