I am 21 years old. The last time I've had a checkup was in 2003. I feel healthy, so I don't think I have a reason to see a doctor.

My sister was told to have gallbladder surgery to remove her gallbladder. We have a nurse in the family and she told my sister "if the doc says do it, then do it!" But Id like some other opinions on this since my sister is fairly simple minded and will do whatever anyone tells her. What are the pros and cons of this? She has experienced a large number of problems with her health ever since she went vegetarian about 4 years ago, this is just another thing to add to her list of probs.

She is experiencing side pains anytime she eats high fat products like garlic bread dipped in olive oil, rich chocolates, etc. I say everything in moderation and Im curious if she has any options to change her diet, habits, etc instead of going under the knife. Will that help her? the "expert" nurse in the family says it will only delay matters and she will have to eventually have the gallbladder removed. If my sis has gallstones, cant those be removed without removing the gallbladder? thx!

Marijuana causes blood-shot eyes and a decrease in pressure in the eye which sometimes makes it an useful treatment for glaucoma. My question is, will it have any negative effect on a LASIK eye? Should you wait a specific amount of time after the surgery to smoke marijuana?
thanks

I just got better after a month of what the doc thought was mono... for 2 weeks i was getting better, then 5 days ago, my body gets crazy sick.. Headache... Eye ache... crazy sore throat and then cough.. spleen swelling again.. liver hurting, at least the liver area.. temp is around 101 about.. awfully tired.. no energy, eating ok, but lost a buncha weight, plus my joints feel not well... Goes back and forth between diarrhea and nothing.. Pretty annoying...

Basically, just need to hear what people think it is, If you've gone through it.. I could see the doc, but i'm in china, and its costy.. Cheers!

As you know, there are seemingly hundreds or thousands of different medicines on the market that are supposed to help us to get rid of our colds. A lot of people also use their own home remedies for getting rid of colds? According to your knowledge, and experience, what are the best methods to get rid of very bad colds? I think that a lot of people will be very interested in this question since it is now winter time in the U.S., and since people all over the world catch either mild or bad colds almost every year.

craps for about 4 years which flare up and cause lots of pain every few months. (The doctor diagnosed me with IBS a few years back). I noticed mucus quite a few months back and then, more recently, blood so went to see the doc. As my diet was very poor (i wasn't eating 3 meals a day and eating irregulary) the doc said it was probably down to this.I am eating 3 balanced meals a day now and now go to the loo more often- every other day at least. I handed a stool sample in last week and am awaiting the results. I'm v worried though, as despite eating better and going much more regualrly, i am still noticing blood &mucus. I have been looking up my symptoms on the net &that just makes me even more worried. Also, i have no pain when going to the loo.

I woke up this morning and my eye felt a little funny (not to mention my vision was a little blurry). When I got out of bed to look in the mirror, I noticed that my eyelid is swollen. My first thought was pink eye, but my eye is not red or itchy. It does feel a little funny if I move my eye, but after applying a hot wet washcloth, it doesn't anymore. It feels like my eye is covered in thick tears. Does anyone know what this is and how I can fix it?

When I was a child from about 6 to 13 years of age I had enough tics to embarass me around the clock .I cleared my throat loudly also. The only problems that I now have (rarely) is eye blinking. But as I was watching a tv documentary about this ailment I learned that I have another symptom which I didn't know was a symptom, and I still have it. I have to keep my self from breaking fragile hinged lids( lap tops, jewelry boxes cell phones etc.) I never actually do it I only desire to . Your stories please.

Does thrush go away on it's own when I take away the cause(strong antibiotics) or once it's there does it have to be treated with something from the pharmacy. I take acidophhilus supplements, eating good diet, keep clean, cotton underwear etc. Is this enough for it to go away.
