Bananas, cheese, rice will all help diarrhea slightly. If the condition doesn't get better in a week or so, then see a doctor.

Your 2nd best advice can come from a pharmacist. Far less expensive and much faster than a Dr. or ER room for info about what works best. There are so many things that can cause this awful problem. It's hard to say how to stop it. Does your friend have any other symptoms..fever, chills, vomiting, severe pain beyond the normal discomfort diarrhea causes? The diarrhea could be a symptom of something else. Like gall bladder problems or IBS ( irritable bowel syndrome) If over-the-counter treatment doesn't work rather quickly assume something else may be going on. This is a far more serious problem than most people think. Hope he is better soon, I wouldn't worry so much about food as about hydration. Our bodies can go a long time without food but dehydration can be deadly.

When a person has diarrea it's more important to keep fluids in than food you have to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated food will only cause more diaerra. So go out and get some Gatorade to replace his electrolytes and buy some real fruit juices so he get the fluid and vitamins. Once the diarrea subsides then have him eat something easy to digest, rice, boiled egg and a slice of toast, but now concentrate on fluids. Most important. Good luck

Some Immodium Ad would help. However, if the condition persists over 36 or so hours, get him some help.

Diarheas biggest problem is the loss of fluid and electrolytes. Just have him drink a lot of fluids and some Gatorade and wait for it to pass.

I would suggest a doctor, if this has been going on a while. Have you tried high-fiber foods?
