While there is no official cure for the common cold, there are remedies to speed up the recovery process. It sounds like an old wives' tale, but chicken soup and orange juice really do help. They've got the right vitamins and nutrients to give your body the strength to fight the cold more efficiently. If you want to give your body another weapon, try a product called "Airborne" - you can buy it at your local pharmacy or even grocery store and it costs about 5 dollars.

When I first notice that funny feeling in the back of my throat, I immediately start taking GOLDENSEAL. It is an herbal supplement that you can get in most pharmacies. Take 2 with each meal for at least 5 or 6 days. This does help to shorten the length and the severity of the cold. Of course if you start seeing yellow or green mucus you should go to your doctor as you probably have an infection. It is also important to drink plenty of fluids and get extra rest.

The best way to treat it is to attack it in the beginning - that Airborne stuff works miracles for me - it won't completely get rid of the cold (which is impossible), but it makes the symptoms much less severe
