Doctor told me the top 3 things to avoid are:
alcohol
tobacco
caffeine
As has been mentioned, small, frequent meals are better. Lose weight (if you're overweight). Spicy foods tend to aggravate this. Don't expect to stop acid reflux by taking medicine alone. Lifestyle and diet changes are almost always necessary!
You should talk to your GP about this if you haven't already. Prolonged untreated acid reflux (heartburn) can lead to other things. One study found that people who have frequent heartburn also have a 10% increased chance of developing esophogeal cancer.

Here is a natural remedy to cure your acid reflux/gerd and hearth burn http://acidreflux.toptips.org
Acid reflux disease, also known as gastro-esophageal reflux disease, or GERD, occurs due to the coexistence of two medical conditions. The first acid reflux disease contributing condition is a retrograde flow of stomach contents into the esophagus. However, the reflux itself does not necessarily lead to gastro-esophageal reflux disease symptoms or histologic changes, and can occur among healthy individuals as well. In this case, the process is referred to as "physiologic gastroesophageal reflux".

Have you tried Prilosec?
Or you could try papaya enzyme pills: Those should be available at a local health food or nutrition store.
And try eating small meals throughout the day, instead of two or three large ones.
Good luck!

Keep trying different acid reducers. The only one that works for me is rantidine. Spicy foods and pop make it worse, so cut back if you need to.
