Sure I've heard of an overgrowth of yeast! I don't think it has anything to do with ear noises, though.
I think you should see a doctor if you're dealing with this long-term. They can see if there's excess wax close to the eardrum.
Now that I think about it, there might be something wrong with the inner ear ... in the cochlea, the part that controls balance. Are you (or this person) also dizzy at times? When the fluid in the cochlea is unbalanced, it can cause dizziness and sometimes a "whooshing" sound. Is this what you're hearing? If so, an ear, nose, and throat specialist (an otorhinolaryngologist) can check that out.

I've experienced several times, the sound doesnt last too long. Normally after i take shower and some water happens to enter then the noise seem to bother for almost 1 or 2 days and goes off. Its been there on and off if i dont take care while showering.
Honestly i never heard of the growth. But if his problem is serious , then he needs serious medical attention. Might block his ears. I would suggest immediate appointment with doctor. Hard to control growth so better seek attention soon.

I don't know about the yeast thing but I had the hissing sound in both ears since the late sixties and the Veterans Administration Doctors attributed it to Tinnitus. Ask your MD on the next visit.

It is called tinnitus. It is caused by some irritation or chemical disturbance, hormonal imbalance, or infection, damage to the hair cells of the inner ear. The warning sign that it could be hazardous to your health if it were associated with vertigo, gait imbalance, hearing loss and more signifcantly, facial deformity.
More commonly it is benign if it were not persistent.
Well your husband may be right if he meant he had a yeast infection in the inner ear,

Well, I never found out the actual cause of this sensation, but I was told by my Doctor during an annual physical that it is associated with (sorry) aging. To the best of my knowledge, there is no "cure". I have had it for years. It has not increased or decreased in intensity. Maybe not what you wanted to hear, but, that has been my experience.
