My dad recently had excruciating abdominal back pain on the left hand side. It came and went and the consultants thought it could be a kidney stone. An IVP and an ultrasound were done at the same time, the ultrasound apparently showed a kidney stone but the IVP came up negative and the consultant said that he was sure it wasnt one. 3 days later and my dad complains that "he feels bruised inside". His blood pressure is normally controlled at around 130/80 but now after the episode his BP is constantly at around 160/100. He is on medication already for high blood pressure and arrythmia. Can anyone offer an explaination for the possible causes of either the pain or the high blood pressure at the moment? thank you...

I had a chest xray in 2006 because of chest pain (gas related). I took another chest xray last week because of chest pain on the bone which turned out to be nothing, i was given anti-inflammatory.

Anyways, the problem with my new xray results is that my heart is slightly bigger than it was last year. I took both xrays at the same hospital, so they were comparing the two xrays from 06 and 07's.

My doctor said my heart has a slight enlargement but still in normal limits. My bloody pressure is normal. But I have gained 15-20 lbs since last year.

I dont know what exactly caused it, or what risks I have. But if it is diet/exercise related then I am willing to change my lifestyle and eating habits.

All I know is, I am going to see a cardiologist next week.

I am only 19 years old. I want to know what the cause may be? Diet related?

NOTE: YES I KNOW THAT A LOT OF YOU MIGHT SAY "GO TO THE DOCTOR" BUT IF YOU ACTUALLY READ I STATED THAT I WILL SEE A CARDIOLOGIST NEXT WEEK. =]

I just felt my heart pounding really hard for about 3 minutes. It was when I was sitting down watching TV. Now I kinda feel this tightness in my chest. I'm kinda breathing differently because I found that to help a little. I'm 13 years old and pretty healthy. I'm a vegetarian, so maybe I'm getting some nutrients? Is this something serious?

I recently had a heart attack. The diagnosis was that I had 2 blockages (atherosclerosis) in my heart arteries and 2 stents were put in. If this is happening in my heart arteries, what about all the rest of the arteries in my body? Aren't they also forming blockages? What about them? Should I be worried? What will that cause if they become blocked as well? I am currently on Plavix and Crestor for blood thinning and cholesterol.

I was just diagnosed with Nerocardiogenic Syncope after failing the tilt table test because i passed out minutes after taking the nitroglicerin tab and now that i know whats wrong its scary to know that people with this diagnosis should not drive and refrain from anything that has to do with heights. So far i have only felt lightheaded and to the point of passing out but not quite (only during the tilt test). Is this something that can get worse? Does anyone have this condition and how do you manage?

For years, the doctors have told me my blood pressure is high. I monitor it at home with normal results. The cardiologist did a normal stress test and an echocardiogram four years ago. He states now he doesn't expect the results to be any different, but suggests a nuclear stress test. I am very leary of any injectables without sufficient cause. What are the real risks involved with complications?

I have used 3 different drugs to try and control my BP and since being on lisinipril have had an almost constantly irritated or sore throat...is this a common side effect? It is driving me crazy and my doctor just blows it off. Also my monthly cycle is off kilter...could any of this be from the lisinipril? Should I try another doctor? Any help is appreciated..thanks

I have three kids with each on my blood pressure went up but after birth if was always back to normal. About 6 months ago my blood pressure went up to 140/105 doctor put me on blood pressure meds had it rechecked it did not help, he changed the medication the last time I went in it was 132/100. Shouldn't he find out why it went up rather than just prescribe me meds? Where should I go?
