This type of Surgery has it's risks, regardless of age, but certainly more so at 89. Discuss the Risks, Benefits with the Doctor who will preform the Procedure, then ask your Uncle if he is willing to take the risk. Best of luck to all involved.

my mom had a quadrule bypass surgery at age 50....on top of that she has a really bad case of diabetes, so it was rough, but you no what its been a year already since the surgery and shes fine. the only thing is, is that beig his age the recovery process will probably take longer than usual, b/c the younger and healthier you are the faster you bounce back to normal life. if you stay positive with him and let him now how postitive you and your whole family is feeling. it will help the recovery process to have a great outcome.!

He will be at the same risk any heart patient would be in. The Doctors breathe and pump his blood for him during this proceedure. Afterwards, he should be pumpimg like a big dog and hoping nature will accept it and give him a few more quality years. It is always 50/50. If you pray, do it now.

It all depends on how his health is. If he is healthy in most other respects he should be fine. Most docs won't do surgery if the risk is too great so I would assume he must be a good surgical candidate.
