my sister was only 30 years old with her whole life ahead of her. she left behind her husband and 3-year-old son. last year she went to thailand for stem-cell implant surgery, that worked very well up till a few weeks ago. she just passed away in the middle of last week. i don't know how i can be there for my family when they need me because i don't know how to deal with all this myself.

49 yo male, six feet tall and 250 pounds. Have led pretty much a couch potatoe lifestyle the last five years (work related, lots of sitting, not much if any exercise). My blood pressure the last two years has been 150 over 100 (average). Can't afford a doc, no insurance. So don't go there. Last two weeks I started playing golf, usually walk 3 hours or 3 miles on the course in hot 90 degree weather. Also started eating oatmeal regularly last two weeks, and a better selection of foods. Also cut out all my caffiene...no coffee. Before, was drinking about 6 cups a day. Yeah, was headed for a heart attack. May still be. Question, with that info, all of a sudden my blood pressure is sitting at an average 120/80 with a pulse of 70....is it possible that in two weeks of no caffiene, lots of exercise and 8 hours sleep instead of 5-6 that my blood pressure would drop this much? Or are these false readings that won't hold up going forward?

My father had 5 heart attacks over the past 12 years and last year he had a bypass surgery done. Well his heart is very weak and he's in the hospital now but is restricted from fluids because his body and lungs are retaining water.
He's very thirsty and dry in the mouth. They can only give him enough liquid for his medication but they're still waiting for his lungs to drain out. He couldn't breath at first but he's doing better now.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a product or special gum of any kind that could help quench his thirst? Or is there anything out there that can trick the brain into believing that the body doesn't need that much fluid for people who are restricted?
It's kind of a silly question but my dad is going to have to watch his water intake for the rest of his life. His heart is so weak that he has developed other health problems as well. (Diabetes, some kind of infection in the lungs and they found a spot on one of his kidney during a catscan.)

Hi, Im a 23 year old male who doesnt smoke or drink

Anyway about 4/5 weeks ago I started gettin chest pains, like a stabbing pain then most of the day discomfort.
I was gettin very anxious about it and went to Doc..he dismissed it and said it was nothing.
I started gettin pains in my arms, mostly left nearly all day, hurts when apply pressure (altho this was a week after playing tennis)

I took myself to ER and they did the following tests:

1 - ECG (did it twice at different times), 2 - Chest x-ray, 3 - Blood test

All came back normal, should they have done more tests or are they the 1st tests they do and if any abnormalities then they do others?
Im always worrying about my heart and Doc says that my other symptoms are anxiety related as i feel lightheaded sometimes.
if its not my heart I feel its inflammation of the chest wall as some parts of my chest hurt to touch, also sometimes when I breath in it hurts
any comments would be apprecited!thanks alot

My father was told he would have quadruple bypass surgery. The surgeon said that the first vein he was going to use for the graft was no good and the second one was "good enough." He also asked if my dad was a "heavy bleeder" and that when he went to do one of the grafts that the artery "oozed" and he wasn't expecting that. He also told us he's done "thousands" of these surgeries. He also did not repair all four arteries, just three large ones. Me and my sister had some concerns regarding complications and wanted an explanation as to why he didn't take the time to look for a better vein and what the chances are that dad may have to undergo more surgery in the future, but my brothers said "they knew what they were doing" and acted as if we didn't have a right to ask questions. What do you think?

I have a carotid artery blockage, and wonder if the swishing noise in my ears and the faster heart rate when I first wake in the morning is related to his.

I am a 29-year male and I experience chest discomfort and pain in my left arm and in back of my shoulder. However this has been happening about every day for the last year. I have had about three EKG's and a stress test about 6 months ago. Living with these symptoms are making my life miserable. I don't know if I am a heart attack waiting to happen or what. I am so tired of going to the doctor because they say nothing is wrong with me. They tell me just to lose the weight and lower my cholosterol. Why do I continue to have all these symptoms on a daily basis. It is really driving my life crazy. Someone please help!
