The minute a patient has a heart attack, I start ordering five drugs: aspirin, plavix, an acei inhibitor, a beta blocker, and a statin. Pretty standard stuff. Pretty expensive, unfortunately.

My husband had a heart attack almost two years ago...as we were sitting in a hospital waiting room while our oldest son was having surgery! He takes plavix and aspirin are what he still takes. The others have been discontinued as of two months ago.
