You should just have regular echo cardiograms to monitor the health of your heart. Some people with a bicuspid aortic valve get narrowing. The narrowing will cause shortness of breath or chest pain with activity. If you don't have that problem than there are no limitations and sex is just fine. Have fun!

Blueberry H has it right. As you know a bi-valve aortic valve is not acquired but something you are either born with or not. Further you don't say that there is insufficiency so I am assuming there is none.

As your cardiologist may have mentioned with that condition you are predisposed to other conditions that should be monitored. Otherwise your physical capacity is absolutely the same as if you had a normal tri-cuspid valve. Monitoring echo-cardiograms will keep everyone informed about how the valves are working, etc...and if there is a problem, your cardiologist will say so.

In other words you wondering whether you are okay for sex is just you worrying needlessly.

Good luck.

Congenital heart disease relates to the heart defects present at the time of birth. You are aged 60. From your question, it is understood that you have got insuffiency of bicuspid and aortal valves, which is not congenital, but acquired. Sex activity requires a lot of stamina and it will increase your heart rate and blood pressure. So it may affect your heart if proper precautions are not taken. Consult your doctor.

From your last visit to Cardiologist, you must have known or should know about the compensation of your heart due to this Bicuspid Aortic valve. If practically, you've no compensation of the Heart, then go ahead & shoot ;-)
But if Volumetric UltaSonoGraphy of your Heart shows some compensation (or decreased function of the heart in simple terms), then may be you want to take the matter only according to the compensation of your Heart & the priceless advice of your Cardiologist..

Take Care..

What is your experience? If you feel tired, your lungs like bellows you should avoid it. But if you are normal and feeling pleasant after sex you need it. You should keep at least a weeks' distance between two ints.

Ask your cardiologist if you are strong enough for sexual activity and any other kind of exercise. If you were just diagnosed and were sick, you are required to rest up and regain strength before doing any activity, including driving.

Honey, I think you should ask your cardiologist, not other users at Yahoo! Answers.

Best of luck to you! :-))

You should have sex at any age if you can get it. Think of it as a cardio-vascular workout --- and if it kills you at least you die happy!!!
