I had the same thing and ended up in the emergency room more times than I can count. My heart rate stuck at 240 once for over 2 hours. I have been to the emergency room over 2 dozen times and was given a mis diagnosis. They told me I was having panic attacs and kept prescribing everything from valium to alprazolam. Let me tell ya, they were missing the boat! I was terrified of this heartbeat thing and no one would tell me what was going on.
A long story made short.......I went to see a cardiologist who specializes in electrophysiology at the Prairie Heart Institute and he looked and my EKG I had and told me he could cure me with a radiofrequency ablation. This procedure is becoming quite popular now. Its done as an outpatient.
The medical diagnosis is called AV node re entrant tachycardia. My heart beat would go from about 80 to 240 in 1 beat and stick there. I have had too many doses of a drug called Adenocard to make it stop and was terrified I was going to die. The electrophysiolgist explained the events and fixed me. If you want more info, e mail me.
PS: He also told me it would not kill me, so try not to worry, just tell your doctor you want to see and electrophysiologist.

it appears that evidently such as you have supraventricular tachycardia. SVTs are trouble-free in teenagers. I even have SVTs myself and that i truthfully recognize how uncomfortable and worried it is. Even my coronary heart professional had this undertaking whilst he became youthful. All i will assert is once you have an attack, do no longer panic. purely relax. The extra irritating you get the swifter your coronary heart beats. There are measures to make this horrid palpitation end. One is thru doing the valsalva manuever, you are trying this once you open your bowels. or you could carry your breath and undergo down. The carotid rubdown additionally will do the trick yet i do no longer advise it because of the fact it is amazingly volatile and purely people who're experienced can do it. yet another degree is drink an ice chilly water, if this would not do the trick, dunk your head in a bathtub packed with ice. i recognize this might seem brutal and uncomfortable yet believe me it is wise. the subsequent element you should do are right here: do away with caffeine on your nutrition regimen and beverages. in case you're smoking, end. circumvent alcoholic drink. Sleep early. circumvent stress. in case you're doing entertainment medications, end! i've got no longer had any attack, or almost 2 years now, because of the fact I gave up caffeine and alcoholic drink. i attempt to circumvent stress and sleep early. you could recover from it as long as you a verify to persist with those what I even have reported.
