I had a chest xray in 2006 because of chest pain (gas related). I took another chest xray last week because of chest pain on the bone which turned out to be nothing, i was given anti-inflammatory.

Anyways, the problem with my new xray results is that my heart is slightly bigger than it was last year. I took both xrays at the same hospital, so they were comparing the two xrays from 06 and 07's.

My doctor said my heart has a slight enlargement but still in normal limits. My bloody pressure is normal. But I have gained 15-20 lbs since last year.

I dont know what exactly caused it, or what risks I have. But if it is diet/exercise related then I am willing to change my lifestyle and eating habits.

All I know is, I am going to see a cardiologist next week.

I am only 19 years old. I want to know what the cause may be? Diet related?

NOTE: YES I KNOW THAT A LOT OF YOU MIGHT SAY "GO TO THE DOCTOR" BUT IF YOU ACTUALLY READ I STATED THAT I WILL SEE A CARDIOLOGIST NEXT WEEK. =]

Could be genetics, diet, blood pressure and just a number of things. If it is a mild cardiomegaly then your cardiologist should be able to find a way to treat you. Unfortunately, this may require a change of lifestyle (diet and exercise) and frequent visits to the doctor for checkups. But once you change your lifestyle for the better, you're gonna feel really good about yourself.

A virus can cause heart enlargement. Ask the cardiologist for all possible causes. Take care.
