i have found out that I have a heart aneurysm. I am trying to decide between non-invasive surgery and open heart surgery. I am 27 so I (hopefully!!!) have a long time ahead of me. I dont want to be in and out of surgery. does anyone know the chances of having to repeat surgery with the non-invasive methods, coil and stent and the risks of open heart surgery on someone my age. i think there is obviously less risk for me than for a 60 year old man.

hi there, my family friends father just passed away and me and my mum were talking and basically she told me that

im highly at risk from heart problems because:

1. my dad's dad has heart problems...but hes alive today and takes aspirin every day

2. my mum's dad had heart problems because he smoked + never visited the doctor

despite me being on 15(male), im worried about the high risk of heart disease because of the two people in my family that already have it...how much at risk am i really ?
or am i worrying too much...

and also could any of you give me advice on what i should do( diet wise/exercise or whatever) to lower my chance of having heart problems when im older

thank you so much in advance

My father is 80 years old. He has diabetes, and kidney problems (his kidney function is only around 25%). About a year and a half ago, he had an angiogram done, which indicated 2 blockages (one in the front and one in the back of the heart). At the time, an angioplasty wasn't possible, and the recommendation was to use medication, and if the condition gets worse by-pass surgery should be considered.

He's now experiencing more shortness of breath in walking, and his left arm feels a little numb. The cardiologist suggests an angiogram be done now, with the warning that the kidney function may worsen, and he might even require dialysis for life. His nephrologist said that there are procedures that can protect the kidney for the angiogram, and recommended he go ahead with the angiogram.

Any comments on what he should consider would be very much appreciated.

can someone tell me what this is. i was told a few years ago when i went to pittsburgh to participate in a drug study (legal drugs oversought by the clinic, drug manufacturer and the fda). this study's physical required an ekg (electrocardiogram), they ma who was performing the procedure couldnt get the pads to stick on my body at first but eventually got them on. after the test was done she didnt know what the results were and had to see the clinics doctor about it. when she came back she told me that the doctor said i had the above condition. i was dismissed from the study and told if i wanted to do another one it would have to be one without an ekg.

i am not taking drugs for this condition, even though i should be. heart conditions are hereditary in my family.

what could cause this?

i know that not everybodys heart rates and conductions are the same.

My mother is suffering from alternating slow and fast heart beats .The doctors diagnosis was sick sinus syndrome .Surgery was performed and she was fitted with a pace maker to regulate her heartbeat and medicines as well .Since then she never recovered fully and recently she was laid up in bed for ten days in pain and completely fatigued . We are from Assam. Does anyone know a good heart surgeon or heart hospital in India ? Please recommend .if there are doctors online can you please suggest what further action should be taken ?

PROFESSIONAL ADVICE IS HIGHLY APPRECIATED... I realize that being seated at my desk for 3-4 hours isn't good but at my age is this normal? 35 and otherwise healthy. Not on any medications and my diet is very sodium restrictive and high in fiber. I admit that I don't drink much water perhaps 3 glasses of fluid a day. Could that be it? or is renal insufficiency possible at this age? I don't drink alcohol - perhaps a glass of wine or two bi-monthly. I do smoke about 1/2 pack of cigarettes a day... could that be causing vascular deterioration at this age? I have smoked since I was 20 so my pack history is 7.5 years. I've started to do ankle circles but so far no real notable change... HELP? Any professional advice is appreciated....

my fiance's mother used to have a weak heart and she does have hypertension (high blood pressure) most of the time. i want to know how to take care of someone who has hypertension. im afraid that hypertension is known to be a silent killer, and anytime it could attack you. what food should she eat to avoid hypertension? what foods not to eat? is there any exercise? she tends to get hypertension when she gets tired and a hot climate becoz right now is summer here in the philippines.

the medicine are kinda expensive and so the continuous check ups. we just want to avoid the disease becoz we dont want anything bad to happen to my fiance's mother and we are considering the budget too for our wedding.
