Wow! Medication is probably his best bet. A change in diet would take too much time but it is equally as important. Once his cholesterol is under control, the new diet will be essential to maintain. He has to switch to all lean meats, preferably chicken and fish. There are lots of web site devoted to such diets. He also needs to increase his exercise level. Too, insist that he return to his physician for follow-up in order to get him on the right track. Warn him about the very real dangers of a heart disease.

He can do what I did. A friend gave me this product called Via Viente and I drank it, let me tell you it taste great!!!
I ordered it and I drink 2-3 ounces two times a day. My first month my Cholesterol dropped from 400 to 200 and I no longer have to take my medications for it.
I just drink 2-3 ounces when I wake up in the morning and another of the same dose right before I get into bed to sleep.
Have him look at: www dot viabenefits dot com
It worked for me and a lot of people, its all natural with no side effects!!!

Start with diet and exercise. However, this may not bring it into the normal range. Then consider medications.
BTW, ignore Razwell. He diagnosed your father as having familial hyperlipidemia and I can guarantee you that Razwell isn't a doctor. However, you dad MAY have this condition. Get your cholesterol checked as well.

This is a REAL disease and need treatment BUT as the studies have found
LARGE REDUCTIONS IN THEIR CHOLESTEROL WERE NOT FOLLOWED BY REDUCTIOONS IN THEIOR VASCULAR OBSTRUCTIONS
