my resting is around 115-120. Doctors keep at bi-yearly check on this. Many things can cause it but i never heard anything about living shorter amount of time. My heart doc said it can signal high blood pressure later in life. I have a hyper-activity disorder tho.

I have a resting heart rate of about 120-130. I have to take beta blockers to keep my heart rate under 100 and have been in Bisoprolol for tachycardia. My pulse now is around 70.
If your heart rate bothers you, go to the doctor and they will prescribe a beta blocker to lower your pulse. A high pulse rate makes the heart work harder and takes its toll over the years.
The 1st thing they examine when your heart beats too fast is the thyroid which requires a blood test.

To quote from http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003399.htm

"Any deviation from normal heart rate can indicate a medical condition. Fast pulse may signal the presence of an infection or dehydration."
