he said that he was taken off it because it wasn't safe. I have been on it for 3 years, and have never heard of this claim. Does anybody know anything about this and should I contact my GP about it? Last blood pressure check was normal.

Hello. I am a young 24 female, and my blood pressure has been high at every gp visit for the last year or so. I work for the nhs and my gp suggested a 24 hour tape (which was normal) and a 24 hour blood pressure monitor which i had yesterday, more for reassurance than any thing else. i just wondered as i'm curious while i await the results.... is it the average of the readings that is important? or is it significant if my bp is high on just a few readings i.e is the fact that it is SOMETIMES but not all the time high important? Also , are chest pains linked to high blood pressure? thanks in advance for any replies!

I have a right bundle branch block, so I require a cardiac clearance preoperatively. (Just getting ACL of Left knee reconstructed.) The doc I saw did the standard 12 lead ECG and a Cadiac Echo, now he wants a nuclear stress test. My real worry is that I am allergic to IV contrast medium. Will there be a similar reaction to the nuclear /thallium material injected into my body????? I go into brochospasms and am very worried..

My dad was just diagnosed with this. He's only 43 and is in decent shape. He is also hypoglycemic and will have diabetes someday. His family doctor did the echo thingie just as a precaution when he was having a hard time breathing sometimes. He isn't feeling horrible, just sometimes he falls asleep when he gets home and it's hours before he gets up. He and my mom said the family doctor told him to just eat better and start exercising regularly and they gave him a inhaler called Advair. But I'm wondering if this enough. Shouldn't he get to a specialist or is this something that really is just controlled by diet and exercise?

I'm writing a story and in one scene, my character meets with someone who is hooked up to different medical apparatus to monitor his health and keep him alive. What are some machines that would do this? Can you be specific with thier names and have a brief description of what they are and what they do?

If it helps, the character had a heart attack about three years ago and is the main reason why he is confined to that state. He is not in a coma or paraplegic or anything, but he is old and is in a weakened state. I am basing this part of my story on my own experience with my late grandfather, but I am ignorant of medical technical things. Any help would be great, thanks.

I recently met my biological father for the first time. I found out that his mother, brother and uncle died of a heart condition. I don't think there is a name for it, but was wondering if someone could recommend the best ways to keep the heart heathly, and what things to avoid as I dont want to end up down the same path....?
