It is very possible to develop a type of heart disease while you're still young. Many things can be a risk factor to developing heart disease: obesity, high blood pressure/cholesterol, smoking, etc. I'm sure you already know all this. Other causes for heart problems can also be a history of rheumatic fever, marfan's syndrome, unmanaged diabetes, IV drug use, family history of heart disease/stroke, blood disorders, and pregnancy at a young age. In order to prevent heart disease, obviously contol your diet and exercise. In order to figure out other things you can do to prevent problems would be to know your risk factors. Is there anything about you that would make you be concerned with your health?

Yes. Heart disease can effect everyone single one of us from New Born's to grown adults in many different ways. How I know this is because my son was born with congenital heart disease 10 years ago. One out of every 100 children here in the US are born with it. That's what the Hospital told me. And at his school there are around 5 or 6 children besides him that have some type of heart problem. high blood pressure, murmurs, heart block, leakage of valves, deformities, and the list goes on and on. I don't remeber the websites that I went to to look of info about it, but there is alot of differnt info about heart disease out the on the web.
