My cousin and his wife recently found out that their unborn baby has Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome(HLHS), which is a rare heart disorder. I have done the research on this, and know what it is and what the chances of recovery are. Does anyone know more about the survival rates, and how much of a normal life she can lead with her condition? Any help would be appreciated. Also, what are some good charities to look into for medical expenses help??

My son is only 21 months old and per his visit at the pediatric cardiologist he thinks that the leak has gone from mild to moderate since his last check and recommends starting him on a blood pressure medication 3x per day I think its called something like cardthacan or something (not sure) but his blood pressure is fine 70/48 when we were there and I dont think I want him on meds 3x per day at not even 2 yrs old, the DR says this is to dilate blood vessels and minimize the leak back into the ventricle...I just wondered if anyone has any history or thoughts on this plan of treatment? Thanks in advance.

Went to ER and was admitted. After 4 days of test ordered by his regular MD they only found that he had an infection and took antibiotic. His heart rate is still alittle eratic. He thinks he has reflux and needs Nexium. With all the test they ran if he had that wouldn't that have showed up?He had the test for it. He says he still doesn't feel quite right. We think he needs a second opinion from a heart Dr. Something just isn't right with this picture. What do you think?

I am a 31 year old male. In excellent shape, 170 lbs 5'11 - I have unexplained hypertention. I have been on 40mgs of accupril for most of 9 years. I recently went to a cardiologist for an annual check up and received a echo and stress test, check for LVH and other cardiac issues. All results were normal. My blood pressure usually reads 125/80 w/ medication but recently I have been seeing lower diastolic pressures 125/65. My doctor added a diuretic to my treatment last year and I have stoped weight lifting which my cardiologist suggested might not be good for a hypertensive. Since then I have been running on average 8- 10 miles a week. Like i said my last cardio echo was perfect,.....could all this cardio and running be lowering my diastolic? If not what could it be if my echo's are clean ?

Does anyone know what kind of pressure changes would occur on the "cardiac cylce diagram" if the patient had a pacemaker? i know what the normal CCD looks like, but I can't figure out how a pacemaker would change it. This question has nothing to do with EKG findings, just ventrical/atrial pressure changes.
